Bristol's Baby Daddy on Tarmac

I keep hearing about how Bristol should be left alone and her pregnancy shouldn't be discussed.
So, why were Bristol and her Baby Daddy on the Tarmac to great McCain as he got off his plane? I can understand Bristol being there to support her mom, but the Baby Daddy? He's just a boyfriend, until they get married. Once they're married, I can understand him playing a part, but right now, he's just the Baby Daddy. If they're putting him on the tarmac to greet McCain, they have to know people are going to talk about him. |

It's a very deliberate choice to have this kid with Bristol today and tonight...they think that "normal Americans" will be thrilled that these kids are going to get married and raise their child together as High Schoolers do, you know?! The religious right is hoping to take over the McCain camp now and I think it's going to backfire. This anti choice, anti gay, gun toting mother with no experience will hopefully not inspire middle America but scare them.
If these kids were younger than 17, I'd say her exploitation of them is akin to emotional abuse. But since pregnant teens are "emancipated minors", theoretically Bristol and her boyfriend can handle this. The new poster children for American Family Values, Impressive. |

What does that have to do with this situation? Obama's mom is not running for VP. If Bristol's baby runs for VP one day, then it might become a valid comparison. |

| Well aware of Obama's bio. Difference is his grandparents literally raised him and Mrs. Sarah Palin is hoping to be VP, so, she's gonna be kinda busy. |

Now that you mention it, how do they reconcile this with the request to keep the kids out of it? Seems like the more photo ops showing "here's my kid who had unprotected sex", the more it raises the profile of this unsavory part of politicking. The whole thing is getting way to Maury Povich. What's next, a DNA test? |

No, the difference is that Obama's grandmother was not a politician who CHOSE to run for VP and CHOSE again to parade her daughter in front of the media rather than shelter her as the Clintons did with Chelsea in 1992 and 1996. Poor Bristol. I bet on some level it feels awful to know that the country is talking about you, not because you're talented or accomplished but because you had sex with your boyfriend and got knocked up. Ick. |

See, she doesn't seem that bothered by it all. She was happily smiling on the tarmac meeting McCain. I wonder if she's enjoying the attention? Maybe on some level she thinks she's got a pretty good set up, not realizing how complicated teenage marriage can be. She's having a baby, marrying her sweetheart, and may soon be living in DC, getting the royal treatment. Are they officially engaged yet? |

So true. When two high school kids get married because they had pre-marital sex and created a baby, the Republicans celebrate it and praise the fact that they're getting married. However, if a mature, long-time committed gay couple wanted to get married, the Republicans would cry bloody murder and say that it's against their 'family values' platform. Crazy. |

Yeah my Republican friends are eating crow  Funny how everyone was outraged when Jamie Spears got pregnant I mean Viacom/Disney Channel canned her show but Palin's family is "All American"  Guess the standards for the Disney channel is a smidge higher than the White House. We don't want our daughters to get the wrong idea her being a role model and all. On a happier note did anyone see Piper slick down the hair of her little brother with her spit! Classic! Looks like she will be a great stand in mommy for Trig. He will need it!

| Did you see him on stage last night chewing gum? America is so caught up in having candidates who are "regular" people (whatever that is), that we are going to end up with this bunch of yokels. Call me elitist -- I don't care. He's a high school dropout and self-described "redneck" who sure doesn't look headed to college, and his "fiance" isn't far behind. Great role models for our children. |
