How many did you lose? In which war?

Three fewer than John Mcain. Though I didn't have his smarts to marry an beer heiress.... Mcain had no right calling anti immigration voters crazies - no respect for him.

So you were a military pilot? In which war? Were you decorated?

He probably flew the mail.

Please! Probably walked to the mail box to get the mail and never served at all.

oh thats what this is about. He's no longer a hero because you don't like his views on immigration.

He had a terrible record as a naval aviator and should never have been one except for the strings daddy pulled. He's not been a friend to vets and there are some credible questions about just how heroic he was in captivity.

If you think he is a war hero and thus unassailable, more power to you.

I follow reagans 11th commandment except when someone else doesn't follow it- as Mcain did not with the crazies comment.

He is not. You are a liar.

Trump is a P.O.S. for criticizing McCain. The fact is, while McCain was out there serving in combat and putting his life on the line, chickenshit Trump was dodging the draft, with multiple student deferments, and then a medical deferment. He has no basis whatsoever for ever criticizing those who've served.

Many Vietnam vets don't like Mcain- you can disagree with that but it is certainly true and you can verify it with some web searches.

Do you feel the same way about our 43rd president?

Dickinson compares him to another POW, air force pilot John Dramesi. "McCain broke down under torture and offered a 'confession' to his North Vietnamese captors. Dramesi, in contrast, attempted two daring escapes." After coming home, both officers enrolled in service colleges that would send them abroad. They talked about their plans.

Dramesi said he was going to travel through the Middle East -- "It's a place we're probably going to have some problems." McCain said he was going to Rio. Why? Dramesi asked. Dickinson, who obviously got the story from Dramesi, continues, "McCain, a married father of three, shrugs. 'I got a better chance of getting laid.'"

43 may have been a better pilot- I am not aware that he ever crashed a star fighter whereas at least one of mccains "kills" was his own plane on a carrier flight deck.

So many armchair warriors on this thread!!!

Hey, I am as liberal as they come but still recognize the struggles and heroism of Senator McCain. "Swift Boating" is appalling - it was a sin to do it against John Kerry and it is a sin to do it against McCain. Especially for those of us who never saw war. Most especially for those assh*les like Trump and Joe Walsh who never did anything but dodge the draft.

Some of those who were on the Forrestal and other persons familiar with the ordnance told me that because the rocket did not hit McCain’s craft, only actions by the pilot could have caused any bomb to fall from McCain’s Skyhawk. These sources—who spoke under the condition that they not be publicly identified—agree with each other that, if any bomb fell from the McCain airplane, it was because of actions that he took either in error or panic upon seeing the fire on the deck or in his hasty exit from the plane. Two switches in the cockpit of a Skyhawk need to be thrown to drop such a bomb, according to the sources.

LOL Yeah, Bush flew over Mexico in a retired aircraft during the Viet Nam war and then got an early release to attend Harvard Business School - what a hero!
