Why did they bring him back?

I agree. I was not impressed with him during his substitution for Felder during the BOE meeting.

Nope.

MCPS employees get a lot of leave. It shouldn't be any different for her than my kids teachers who are out a few weeks of the year on personal leave.

No teacher gets a few weeks of personal leave.

If they teach at Seven Locks Elementary they do. The teachers and staff there are always out on leave.

Not personal leave, though. Medical or professional, perhaps.

Could be FMLA, could be they are in IEP/504 meetings all day, could be their grest grandmother's 95th bday for all you know. So judgey

He seemed OK to me.

I don't really care where they are. My point just is that nobody is ever teaching the kids. Like another poster said, the teachers and staff are out a minimum of 25% and there are no subs so it's just a free for all most days.

This a valid concern and widespread throughout the system!

I wonder why Johnson (acting chief of staff) was named the acting superintendent this time, but last time Hull (chief operating officer) was?

Or the acting deputy superintendent Lance Dempsey.

Hopefully this means the BOE has caught on to how terrible both of them are.

Dempsey is “acting special assistant” but is filling the role as deputy…NOT A GOOD MOVE.

He is well respected within the system for getting things done and being transparent.

As a teacher, I can tell you that it is sooooo much easier to put together lessons and be at school to actively teach them yourself. It's a big lift to organize lessons for a sub, so please don't insinuate that you have teachers missing school because they just can't be bothered to show up. You should shift to private school if you perceive your children's schools to be a free-for-all.

“In the vein of transparency, the Board wants to make it clear that they are aware of a prior investigation into the financial disclosure reporting of an honorarium received by Dr. Felder from an educational consulting company in 2019. The Board has reviewed the findings and is confident that the findings were unsubstantiated as the report concluded. The Board is confident that Dr. Felder is a trustworthy, upstanding and highly respected educational leader who will be able to competently guide MCPS through this transition.“

Can anyone shed light on how Dr. Felder was selected as the interim superintendent following Dr. McKnight’s departure? That seemed to have been very quick decision by the Board.
