Pulling Down the Moon - would you recommend?

Anonymous
I'm thinking of going with PDTM for my pre transfer and post transfer appointments and wondered about others' experiences. I normally go to another accupuncturist but she's out of town for my transfer date. Any experiences to share and would you recommend?

I used Pulling Down the Moon for my pre and post transfer accupuncture treatments because they happened to fall on a weekend. It was a different experience than my regular provider- not bad, just different. I was very used to my provider's "style" for inserting the needles but I was able to ignore the differences after the first few sticks and relax. The atmosphere was very relaxing and quiet. They offer a tea to drink after the treatments which I ended up being allergic to (mouth swelling and itching) but in the end everything turned out fine. I ended up getting pregnant on that cycle and am now 28 weeks along. Good luck!

I used PDTM for two cycles at SG because it's so convenient. I had two weird experiences that were based on rather unique circumstances, but fwiw to your decision here they are. One time the practitioner was late for my pre-transfer appt. I was the first appt. of the day and had gotten there super early (before they were even open!). She ended up being very, very late. She kept calling in, and the receptionist would give me updates. When she finally arrived, she did a shortened session (maybe 15 minutes? I can't recall exactly) and then I rushed to SG for the transfer where they took me right away (instead of getting there early like they recommend and like I had built into the schedule). I didn't have time to drink water, and all the rushing around made for a very stressful experience. I went back for the post-transfer session and they reduced the rate slightly to account for the shortened first session. I think they also gave me a future session either free or at a discount. Another time a customer was having an extreme argument with the front desk. I don't recall what the customer's issue was, only that I could hear the yelling clearly from my darkened treatment room. Needless to say it wasn't very relaxing. My biggest complaint, though, is that I was never able to get anything to submit to insurance from them, only a receipt, which insurance wouldn't take because it didn't have the reason for the acupuncture on it. I'd still guardedly recommend it because it's so convenient, and I'm assuming my experiences are not common ones.

Njemile Carol Jones (acupuncturist there) is a head case. Hopefully the pp wasn't dealing with her, but I wouldn't be surprised if she was the one from the sound of the post.

This is the OP. I did go to PDTM and it was fine, but so much more like a factory and very impersonal. Wow! The accupuncturist whized in and out, slapped some needles in, and returned pulled them out; it was very mechanical and I wouldn't say I felt totally relaxed. That said, it was so convenient. They definitely have a great location so I can see why they're in business, but not the same experience as the place I normally go to.
