There is an OSSE or DME spreadsheet that shows where kids are zoned and where they actually go. But since this conversation is about such a small number of kids, it might not be enlightening. https://dme.dc.gov/page/sy2021-22-public-school-enrollments-dcps-boundary |
Totally fascinating document. huge number of kids zoned for Langley and Noyes are attending ITS. At the middle school level, many students zoned fof Macfarland and McKinley Middle are choosing ITS. In the year of this data (SY21-22), there are no kids zoned for Deal Middle School attending ITS instead. Yes to DCI, Latin, Basis, a few at Hardy.. There is so much more interesting data in here. I also learned that more kids zoned for Stuart Hobson are at BASIS than Latin. |
So you would need to look at kids listed under Deal feeders, because they are IB for Deal, as well as kids listed under Deal and of age for Deal. So a small population spread over multiple schools. It's unlikely to be 10 or more at any school except maybe Deal. |
Here are the zones that sent kids to Inspired that year: Barnard Brookland Middle (quite a few) Bunker Hill Burroughs Langdon Langley Macfarland McKinley Middle Noyes Truesdell Walker-Jones Education Campus No Deal, no Deal feeders |
They don't list if there are fewer than 10, so there could be 9?
My kid is IB for a non-listed MS and was always a non-listed ES as well. My older kid had a few kids IB for Deal in their class. Maybe 2-3. I don't think my current MSer has any, but I could be wrong. Anyway, not sure what the big deal is? The kids I knew who were IB for Deal who stayed for MS had parents who preferred it. |
Okay, but I know a kid who attends ITDS and has since he was a toddler who is currently in Middle School who was zoned for Deal. Just so you know. Also he's not the only one. |
That's weird because my kid was in ITS middle school then and we are most definitely zoned for Deal. |
This is wrong. I don't know if you're interpreting the site wrong or if the data are wrong. |
Look at the Introduction tab of that spreadsheet. "Schools where fewer than 10 students from the boundary attend school are not listed." Bancroft, Shepherd, Deal, and so on very like each send 9 students or fewer to ITDS. |
Sorry, "like" should have been "likely" |
