Why is my old neighbor mowing his lawn almost every day. Do I have recourse to report him?

I had a neighbor with OCD who cleaned her front porch almost hourly, rain or shine. Often extreme outliers in order or cleanliness can indicate anxiety, so I would leave him alone. There are worse habits than keeping a well-manicured lawn.

This --- very odd OP.

Yep.

He might be senile and forgets he mowed. Why not buy noise canceling headphones, OP?

Are there any rules on this, I understand once or twice a week but almost every day is excessive.

He is retired probably age 60+

As long as he is mowing his lawn during daylight hours it is none of your effing business. Close your windows.

I doubt you are going to find any county noise ordinance that allows you to force your neighbor to stop mowing daily.

Talking to him in a CIVIL (which means calm yourself completely and do not go in accusing) is your best chance for success.

Keep your goal in mind (getting him to mow less often) and wipe what you think you are entitled to out of your head before you approach him. That's key if you want any chance of achieving your goal.

+1. Leaf blowers?? Too often??

He probably brushes his teeth every day too. Better call the local SWAT team & let them handle this.

But seriously folks, you could spray his lawn with Roundup or one of the many other grass-killing products.

PP and OP need to invest in some noise-cancelling headphones. You can get ones designed to plug into your computer, so you can use it for meetings, but you can wear them anytime your neighbors are mowing their lawns.

If you make the non-emergency call for disturbing the police, YATA, not your neighbor.

Report yourself.

Hi! Though he had landscpapers for other things, my dad loved to take care of the lawn himself in retirement. It was hard for him to mow all of it in one go. He's do parts each day over the course of 3-4 days. He was really proud to still handle the mower as an old man.

That was until he was really too elderly to do it. Then he passed that job on to the landscapers.

Chill out. Better than living near someone who doesn't do anything.

Fixed that for you.

I find lawn mowers and leaf blowers annoying too. I wish everyone in the neighborhood could all agree to do this work at the same time each week, so that I could just go away for those few hours, and then enjoy the rest of my week in peace. I have a feeling that some neighborhoods/associations may do this. Not sure where though.

Yeah, sure thing, Barb! I’ll just tell my H he has to conform to your schedule. I’m sure he’ll be totally fine with that. Yeah.

If most neighbors use leaf blowers and/or mowers (they do!) - it is absolutely a nuisance for those of us working at home. If they could agree on one day (every 2-3 weeks, not every week, which is excessive), and get it over with, that would be a gift.
