To get guys to watch

Do many guys listen to Beyonce?

I cannot stand the new song. It is horrible. I'm from Texas and find it to be an embarrassment.

Seems way too thirsty for attention…

Why is she Cowboy Carter. Jay Z's gotta keep those claws in her, even in her "solo" career.

Because Beyonce is a country bumpkin to the fullest . “Stand by mah man y’all” is Beyonce

+1
So embarrassing.

I just listened to it for the first time. The only thing worse and more embarrassing than the lyrics/music is that video. WTAF?

I'm from Nashville. I think it's pretty much only Beyonce fans listening to it. It's pretty awful. Texas and Lexus? Shudder.

I’m a lukewarm Beyoncé fan and I just cannot get into country music so not a good judge if this is any good. It certainly is brave to try another genre. Who has gone from pop/rock to country successfully? I know some have tried but successfully? Seems tough to pull off.

Darius Rucker would like a word

DP. But I don’t think there have been any black women to do well in country. Darius Rucker is also a lot less in your face about his blackness compared to Beyonce. He has a white wife and hasn’t really commented on any racial issues like how Beyonce has nor has he had as black a fan base.

To be fair, women in general don’t do well in country. There are plenty of excellent women *in* country, but they’re usually not cleaning up the awards in that category, unless it’s for best female.

Tou're addressing the "cowbot" while I was focusing on the "Carter." Like, let her stand on her own, Jay-Z.

It’s not coming from Jay Z. It’s all her. She’s the one infatuated with him.

He figured her out early on that she was a young and sheltered and simple country bumpkin who didn’t know much about life or the world and would stay with him no matter what or who he did . The feminism and girl power is just performative for the stage but Beyonce has never stood on her own as an adult even now without mom or dad holding her hand .

It goes without saying that Beyonce has never been a buyer of the values she's peddling.

The song is fine. It's very poppy country.

Then maybe we agree that they're mutually opportunistic?
