Frankly his business dealings seem a little odd/shady -- a hedge fund that nobody has really ever heard of, based in Puerto Rico. The guy had plenty of money and connections but for all we know there was some very shady stuff going on. Not trying to victim-blame but there has to be some crazy personal shit going on to kill a 10-year old boy. If this was some douchebag random thug from SE or PG County they'd have arrested him already. And I doubt you'd pick that house unless you knew it well because I'm sure there was plenty of security, or at least you'd assume there was tons of security, not to mention a few blocks from Naval Observatory and a shitload of Secret Service protecting all the embassies around there.

There are a ton of hedge funds though. It is just an investment structure, right? There isn't a hedge fund registry or something is there?

Correct that a hedge fund is an investment structure. My brother had to set up investment accounts as a HF for tax purposes, but there's no reason for it to be 'known'. It's totally above board. There are indeed tons.

Additional details that I haven't seen on this thread yet in this story:

Hopefully by leaving fingerprints on the pizza money envelope, or the cash.

While you're not "trying to victim-blame," you are. Many vicious crimes are committed against people who're completely innocent. Let's just wait and see what the police investigation uncovers before we start with the victim-blaming posts like the one you wrote, okay? It's likely only a few more days before you can "have at it."

SMH. Nonsensical hedge fund speculation.

I owned a retail business. Never did I need $40K in cash to operate my business. Why on earth would they need that much cash to operate a martial arts studio?

Do you have the link? Is this the video of her on sidewalk in front of the the home the day of the fire? I've been trying to find this video.

I read somewhere that the money was to be given away at the martial arts studio opening. Auction? Raffle? Donation? The Savopouloses have always been very generous with their donations.

Speculation is to pay day laborers or someone in wapo comment section said he was going to give cash gifts at martial arts opening. Not sure if i believe that one. But if it is true then people knew about it. I sure hope he didnt advertise it. I think within a week the people will be identified if not caught

A person with indirect relationship to CEO - Iron Works employee (or ex-employee), friend of employee, etc. went to house planning simple kidnap and robbery. Things did not go as planned and this is result. Police will announce arrests by Friday.

I think this is a rational working theory.

But that doesn't explain why the dogs wouldn't have gone berserk. They were calm - again, someone who knew them. A relation of the housekeeper, a contractor who worked on the house...all possibilities.

Why do they keep talking about the perpetrators being there for 10 hours. From the timeline it sounds like Wednesday afternoon until Thursday at 1? (I can't recall the break in time between the fire and the post 5:00 location of the burning Porsche.

This 10 hour number is repeated over and over, why?

Someone posted earlier about the Harvey family in Richmond. I immediately thought of that case, too. At the time, everyone was saying that it had to be a hit or possibly drug-related but it ended up being a random home invasion by a couple of depraved drug addicts. If I remember correctly, the Harvey house was the first they tried and it was unlocked. It's possible the Savapalous home had a door that was unlocked. Hell, the housekeeper could have been taking out a load of trash and been ambushed. There were reports of some guy banging on doors earlier in that neighborhood. Maybe he was also testing them.

FOX 5 has also learned that a Domino's pizza delivery was made late Wednesday night just before midnight at the Savopoulos' house. The delivery man says he left two pizzas at the front door and there was an envelope with cash left outside.

Holy shit. How much more disturbing brazen can this get. Ordering pizza? Speechless

+1. WTF

2 pizzas? Def more than one guy there.

They even went through the trouble of putting the money in an envelope??

I can't fathom how this particular detail is the one that people are shocked by.

Well if the ordering 2 pizza's and leaving the money outside on a step in an envelope isn't strange to you...then you're right..you can't fathom.

I think the people who did this are low life idiots like the ones who killed the Petit family or the other family in Richmond. totally no concern for human lives, so they can kill an entire family for nothing, and profoundly dumb. they ordered pizza because they were hungry and probably have been eating junk food all their lives (so no raiding the refrigerator and cook) and knew they had to stay there until the morning to get the money. it is pretty obvious why they left the money outside. they did not want to be recognized, and likely it would have been obvious to anybody at first sight that they did not belong to a $4.5 million home
