I just sent this to my local mom's group.

I've been meaning to post about Declan's former in-home child care provider Hina Qreshi. Declan was with her for just under 2 years and as happy as I am to have only one child-care stop (he moved to Frog Pond with his older brother) it made me sad to have to leave Hina. If we are blessed with a 3rd child, she will be one of the first people on my list to care for the baby.

She is one of the most kind and caring women I have ever met. She truly loves what she does and it is reflected in how the children respond to her. I can count on one hand the times my son has cried at drop off over the nearly 2 years he's been with her. There are even some afternoons when he doesn't want to leave!

Her home day-care is in a town-house community which was a bit of a concern in the beginning but the wonderful care she gives far outweighs the limited outdoor space. It was also not too important to me that my child have extended outdoor time as he was an infant. She does take the children to the playground in her development.

As far as the nuts and bolts of things - Her home is immaculately clean. The rooms she uses for the daycare are neat and well maintained. She is comfortable with using expressed breastmilk and has been willing to work with cloth diapers. She provides meals and snacks for older children. She is closed on federal holidays (we are both feds so that works for us) but has not been closed for an extended vacation period. She closes for the Muslim holiday Eid in late August. She has family members that are her assistants and her child to adult ratios are on the lower end. Her hours of operation are reasonable and workable for working parents. And her rates are very reasonable.

The care that Hina Qureshi provided to my son is the closest thing to me being with him myself. I entrusted my then 3 month old in her care. Never once did I question my decision or feel as if my son would receive better care elsewhere. I would recommend her with out reservation, and would encourage anyone seeking child-care to meet with her.

She has a permit issued by Fairfax County and I know she was applying for a liscense from the State of Virginia. She's not on the list on line but she might have been approved by now.

I'm happy to answer any specific questions, just post an email and I'll contact you. Hina can be reached at 703-799-7673.
