I saw one once, well a reflection in a window It was early morning before the sun came up. He was dressed in kackis and white button down and tie. He was waving to me (his head was blocked by something, so I couldn't see the face). I thought it was my brother being strange. I was I'm HS at the time. When I looked in the room instead of in the reflection there was nothing there. I was scared out of my mind. I went and looked for my brother, who was fast asleep.
I told my parents about it later and my dad said it sounded like his father who had died in that house around 1960. This happened around 1995. Apparently my grandfather always wore tan pants, white shirt and tie to work. I never saw him again though and to my knowledge neither has anyone else. |
I didn't see but I felt the presence. The daughter of a neighbor was killed in an automobile accident and father literally grieved himself to death. When the mother and son went on a vacation, she asked me to look after her cats, pool, and tomato plants. One evening (around twilight), I was at kitchen sink rinsing out water dish for cats and I just knew her father was standing in doorway between kitchen and dining room. I turned around but didn't see him. When neighbor came back I told her about incident and she said she had experienced the same thing. |
| I dont beleive in ghosts, which is good bc if I did I would never enter my attic (finished). At least once a weeks it sounds as if some is walking up there or dropping stuff on the floor. Once night last week it was so loud that I heard it way down in the basement and rushed upstairs bc I thought my 6 yo has fallen out of bed. Well she was fast asleep and I could not find any sign of anything that fell. |

Let me begin by saying I am a scientist and DO NOT believe in ghosts.
I was widowed about 15 years ago and I sometimes feel the presence of my late fiance. Still, to this day. Last time it happened was a couple of months ago. I was making dinner and smelled her. I think it's my minds way of processing a loss i might feel my entire life. WHen it happens, I just give my memories a moment to flood over me. I might say hi, tell her how I"m doing, ect. |

why does the scientist always have to ruin the fun by adding logic to the mix?
sometimes things just can't be explained, I choose to leave it at that. |

I do believe in spirits. Strange things happen at my parents house. When I was 17 or 18, I was coming home one night around 9:30 or 10. When I walked in the house my Mom called from upstairs, "Jane, is that you?". I responded, "Yeah Mom, I'm home". Then I went to the kitchen, walked back to the living room to find my parents & younger siblings just getting home. I was so scared I swore someone must be upstairs. No one was there.
Before my Grandpa died he told us that if he could, he would say hi by ringing the door bell. Now the door bell will ring all by itself. The first couple of years it did it on his birthday and the day he died. Other strange things like the stereo coming on by itself and at full volume will happen too. It's really an old, freaky house that I don't like to be alone in. My parents love it. Cuckoos! |
| My uncle passed because of cancer when I was in high school. One night in college I woke up in the middle of the night and saw his silhouet at my bedroom door. He didn't say anything and I wasn't scared. I just got the distinct feeling that he was moving on to somewhere and he came to say goodbye. A few minutes later he was gone. |

| I don't believe in ghosts, my husban is terrified of them. Having said this, I do believe that one can have certain feelings about things. Seven years ago when looking to buy homes we visited a gorgeous row house on 1st street nw several times. We couldn't make up our mind on house. Iqt had been renovated but for some strange reason we spent so much time in the basement that was not even finished. I was drawn to this basement like nothing else. At one point I was walking around the basement like a bloodhound weaving in and out of the studs. My DH had to tell me to stop. Fast forward a few weeks, we didn't buy the house, thought upkeep costs would be to high. I was bemoaning the loss of the house to an elderly neighbor house when she said, "oh honey you don't want that house that's the murder house." sure enough I googled the address and a AOL exec had been murdered by his contractor in the basement. The contractor had stuffed the guy in a barrel and drove dumped the body in VA. If we had bought the house we would have had to move. |
| Can someone please explain to me how a tv can turn itself on over the course of the weekend, always broadcasting to the same show, EVEN WHEN UNPLUGGED??? Because this happened to someone I know. |
| What was the show? |
| My best friend in high school lived in an old victorian house where several strange things happened while I was there. Once, when I was spending the night at her house when her parents were out of town, we were up late watching TV when I heard sounds like someone was moving around the kitchen, opening cabinets and getting a glass of water. No one was home but us. Another time, I smelled tobacco smoke when no one in the house smoked. Apparently a previous owner smoked a pipe. My friend just blew it off saying, "oh, that's just the smoking ghost." |
| Yes I do. I once helped set a formal dinner table with good china, fifteen place settings. 11 were on the table. When I went back to get the remaining four sets and returned to the dining room, the 11 sets on the table were...a different set (!) |
