I, as a Del Ray resident and sushi lover, cannot wait for this place to open up! We'll patron them regularly and happily.

GET IN MY BELLEH CHILDLESS SUSHI!

We've already got the petition going around and we have over 5,000 signatures so you may not be able to enjoy your childless sushi after all.

OMG. Talk about first world problems. You actually spent the effort to get a petition with signatures over one restaurant that wants to be child free? You do realize there are kids dying of cancer or starvation, right? You know - issues worth getting upset over...

Little precious snowflake Madison must never be upset! GRAR! Must start petition against people who don't love my DC while they eat dinner! How dare they!

Yeah, right. Restaurants are going to turn down all that money. That mac and cheese we pay $6 for probably costs them a nickel to make.

That $6 will probably be made up *easily* with people staying to actually enjoy their dinner, instead of rushing out because of fussy kids. Staying and ordering a bit more for the table - more appetizers, more wine and drinks, more coffee, more dessert. It's not even a match for that $6 kiddy meal.

Not to mention the extra staff expenses spent on cleaning up after kids. The turnover on tables will be much quicker without kids, which will be a cost pro for the restaurant. Not to mention, I'm sure they'll save a shit ton on napkins alone.

I have two kids now - 3 and 5 but when I was a server in my college days - I hated getting the tables with kids. Much more work (had to bring over the high chair or booster), made a HUGE mess to clean and never left a big tip. Meanwhile 2 adults would typically order alcohol and run up a much higher bill than a family of 5 and leave a nice tip. And no mess.

There is definately a petition. I signed my name to it!

Loser. Take your poopsies to Chipotle

Well, I find children at nice restaurants annoying on fun nights out. Can you stop forcing your children on every single business scenario? It's getting old, and not contributing positively to the dinner we'd like to be having.

I have young kids and we take them to restaurants all of the time but we watch them like hawks and are very conscientious of not disturbing others.

Other parents...not so much. So if a child-free restaurant means I don't have to put a fake smile on my face as lil pumpkin pops up over the booth for the 14th time, drooling all over my seat and touching it with sticky fingers, I'm there!

My 4 yo daughter Mayckinzee will only have her evening mummy's milk at a hibatchi table. If they do not allow me to do this, my DD will not sleep that night. But me and my 8,000 gang of milking mommies will be there to protest. IT'S OUR RIGHT!

I don't understand why people who are offended by the child free restaurant just don't (gasp!) go to the restaurant. If enough people feel like you do, the restaurant will either close down or change its policy. Why the need for the petition and protests, etc. unless you are nervous that most people do NOT feel like you and therefore, you need to impose your worldview on others.

Who, exactly do you purport to be petitioning?

I have a sneaking suspicion that these are the same types of people who accuse childless-by-choice couples of being "selfish".
