If they have takeout, I'd get stuff from it from time to time (my son and I like sushi but DH does not, so not a place for a date night for me).
I do however, think it is an asinine business idea to open a restaurant like that in Del Ray, which is notoriously kid-friendly and full of families with young kids. It is equivalent to turning away revenue. But if the place can make it, that's fine.

Thank you for being reasonable. Personally I don't like sushi so wouldn't go to this restaurant either but find it preposterous that people would petition and protest if others want to go.

People are upset on principle bc a restaurant like this does not belong in family friendly Del Ray, regardless if they like Sushi or not. I dont see why this concept is so hard to understand.

What "principle?" Why doesn't a restaurant like this belong on Del Ray? Are parents not allowed to have a date night? Are people with children not allowed one establishment, out of thousands, that's strictly for grownups?

Honestly, people who oppose this sound really bitter to me. I can't understand how in a sea of restaurants in Del Ray or across the area, why one place for grownups is that big of a deal.

Go away. Your overbearing presence on this thread is annoying. You keep posting the same thing over and over. Talk about killing an already dead horse, geez

The majority of posters (and there appear to be many different ones) on this thread are in favor of this one restaurant being "allowed" to not have kids as diners. Do you really find it so ludicrous that people would want a kid-free dining experience once in a while that you would accuse PP of being a sock puppet?

There are several posters for and against the idea. And yes pp is a sock puppet. The two have no bearing on each other.

You understand that someone just persistently responding to your comments is not sock-puppeting, right?

Heck yes! Hell, I'd bring the kids!

I think this person is so far up her delusion that some people truly don't want to enjoy nice dinners around children all the time, that they have lost all sense of knowing what they're saying--but here's some word vomit to distract you from my asininity.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I wrote one of those posts you quoted (the one thanking the reasonable poster and some of the earlier ones advising people to check out a third world country to see what a real issue looks like) but not the later ones. So PP is not a sock puppet. Maybe PP and I just both write so eloquently, that we sound similar!

I would boycott. My kids, ages 3 and 1 and are great at restaurants. I would hate for this niche to become normal.

Pp here.
I would be ok with "no kids after 8" or whatever. That's more reasonable.

What's next? Kid-free flights?
It's already hard being a parent, juggling multiple schedules, etc. Let's not make it harder.

I scrolled through pages and pages but must have missed it.. what the hell is the name of the restaurant and where is it?

It's in Del Ray, but the name has not been posted, as far as I know.

Yeah, right. Restaurants are going to turn down all that money. That mac and cheese we pay $6 for probably costs them a nickel to make.

That $6 will probably be made up *easily* with people staying to actually enjoy their dinner, instead of rushing out because of fussy kids. Staying and ordering a bit more for the table - more appetizers, more wine and drinks, more coffee, more dessert. It's not even a match for that $6 kiddy meal.

Not to mention the extra staff expenses spent on cleaning up after kids. The turnover on tables will be much quicker without kids, which will be a cost pro for the restaurant. Not to mention, I'm sure they'll save a shit ton on napkins alone.

I have two kids now - 3 and 5 but when I was a server in my college days - I hated getting the tables with kids. Much more work (had to bring over the high chair or booster), made a HUGE mess to clean and never left a big tip. Meanwhile 2 adults would typically order alcohol and run up a much higher bill than a family of 5 and leave a nice tip. And no mess.

Are you crazy? We spend much longer having a meal without kids. With kids you eat and leave.
