Laura Bush - yay or nay?

Absolutely ridiculous. Why on Earth do you even care??? I don't go around hating Laura Bush, even though I think she's the scariest type of 1950s, no opinions, sit by while your husband is a douchebag kind of woman. Same for Nancy and Barbara.

Michelle Obama is her own woman - a strong woman. She does not fit the stereotype of a first lady. Everyone hates Hillary, not they will all hate Michelle. It's just YOU feeling uncomfortable with yourself. You don't get to where she is as a black woman without putting up with some serious racism. I'd be a little peeved as well.

I am African American and feel strongly that Michelle Obama (as were several other first ladies) will be a much bigger influence on her husband than Laura Bush was. People know this so she will be scrutinized, as she should be.

As i stated before, Michelle is a smart woman. She has a lot of things going for her. I don't care about her clothes, her hair, her money. I do care about her inner strength, which I feel she is lacking. She can't seem to come to grips with her feelings that she is an outsider in a white person's world. Most people have some unfair battles they need to fight a long the way....you got to move on! I know plenty of white women who feel they are untreated fairly for all sorts fo reasons. It is the ones that let it get to them that are the ones I try and stay away from.

How awful that you are using politics to put someone down-Laura Bush has a masters degree and worked for many years and recently completed a book with her daughter and has made a point of non name bashing people--remember how she even stuck up for Therese Kerry when Mrs. Kerry inaccurately said Mrs. Bush never worked. Laura Bush is a classy lady.

She's a Theta. I've heard her speak at some Theta events. She's smart and I like her. I'm a Democrat.

Cindy McCain is also a Theta, and Lynne Cheney too. What gives?

It was a joke, people. Not sure why Greeks cause so much angst, but I really meant it as a joke. I think it's funny that I have this in common with people like Jenna Bush. But for the record, I think Laura Bush is perfectly fine. What's wrong with her?

Accidentally, of course.

"Greeks" come across as too exclusive, white, racist. Are you aware that they did not allow Jews, Asians, blacks into their system? So the Jews, Asians, and Blacks had to start their own frats. The sorority system were meant to provide support to the female students who were entering university, when women constituted "diversity" in the university system. But sororities have just absorbed the frat boys' values. What a waste of a college experience.

No wonder she has stayed married to George all these years. She probably feels as if it her punishment for this accident.

Thank you for sharing your views, 15:07. I do know that minorities were excluded historically, although that is not true of my sorority now. I wasn't aware of that when I was in college, but I attended a nearly all-white university and didn't have much awareness of race and ethnicity.

Now I do have some regret about participating in something so exclusive. Nonetheless, it was a good experience for me. On my campus it was not quite as unidimensional as you seem to think, but I understand the common perception. I know many African American women who value their experience in AKA or Delta Sigma Theta. Just out of curiosity, do you feel that the black sororities are also negative?

Thanks again for your perspective.

Neither, how can you have an opinion? She's just...there.
