Please recommend: ST or OT (or a practice with both) to assist with feeding issues

Anonymous
We live in Arlington and are looking for a practice or individual who can work with us to help us and our DD, who has no known seriouus physiological issues or developmental delays, overcome her resistance to solid foods and increase her variety and quantity of foods eaten. We've been to KKI for the first evaluation but are not sure about waiting three months to get into the day program nor about being able to drive to B'more two or three times (or more) a week for the day clinic. Thanks in advance!

I used the Language Experience in Rockville, but if I'm remembering correctly, the therapist who oversaw my son's program was from Northern VA and the practice has an office there. My son's issues were a combination of oral motor, sensory and food aversion. They were great in that each session involved training me as well as working with my son.

Children's Therapy Center in Springfield/Sterling has a food group. It's run by OTs.

What is KKI?

KKI-Kennedy Kreiger in Baltimore.

Have your tried the feeding clinic at Children's hospital? My child is in the clinic and we are very happy with it. They have speech and OT at Children's too, although I have not been to it.

Try Skill Builders in Annandale or McLean ask for Michael Lemiuex. He does feeding and speech for my child. I am very happy with the progress. Although, feeding is tough.

Good luck.

You may want to get on a waitlist for Children's (already mentioned) and/or Virginia Hospital Center. Also, you could find out if any of the OTs or STs at these clinics have their own private practice. We went that route long ago.
