Thoughts on Quincy as a girl's name?

Anonymous
Hi there - I'm trying hard not to solicit opinions from my family about potential baby names but for some reason I have no issues asking complete strangers about it What are your thoughts on the name Quincy for a girl?
Anonymous
I like it. It is original. I think you should go with it.

I winced reading your subject heading. Ugh. Unless it has some special meaning for you, don't do it.

I like unusual names, but this is pretty terrible. It would even be a little much for a boy.

I don't like it. Quinn I can handle, Quincy is still a male name.

Weird.

Oh nooo. Don't like. Even as a male name, it's just about a hair away from Noooo.

Thought about it for a boy, but I agree it's too much for a girl.

Use Quinn instead.

I don't like it. I do really like the name Quinn for a girl or Quentin for a boy. Quincy is just too cutesy though and I associate it with boy.

I like it for a boy (probably because of Little Einsteins), but don't like it for a girl at all.

Terrible. Please do not do that to your child! Quinn is tolerable but there are so many prettier names out there.

Joan Didion named her daughter Quintana Roo. Really she did!

(please don't take a cue from her).

Quincy is like Baxter...best used as a dog's name.

Oh, no, please no.

My next thought was that Quince, like the fruit, would be a strange girl's name (like Apple, I guess?), but still miles better than Quincy.
