For those who are looking for a sleep away camp experience for their children, I recommend the camps associated with the Aloha Foundation in Fairlee, VT. There are a number of local DMV families whose children attend.

There are three residential camps (two girls’ camps and one boys’ camp) and opportunities for kids 8-16. Right now, I believe they have a few spaces for 8-10 year olds specifically for this summer. There are half session (3.5 weeks) and full session (7 weeks) spots. The kids have lots of opportunities to swim, hike, sail, play, and enjoy nature.

I’m happy to chat with anyone who wants to know about our experience (both my kids starts at 7 and 8).

A bit more from the site: https://alohafoundation.org/about/

Quickly: For more than 100 years, the Alohas have been known for their outstanding summer camps—and so much more.

By stepping away from technology and immersing ourselves in a simpler, natural world, we are able to focus on what matters most: authentic relationships, connection, community.

The word we hear most often to describe Aloha Foundation camps and programs? Transformative.

TK sports. Best camp in the Gaithersburg/Rockville area!! Convenient to potomac, Darnestown, Rockville, N potomac, poolesville and more!
It’s located in the gym at Mary of Nazareth and it’s run by amazing PE style instructors that do character building, super fun competitions designed to increase sportsmanship, sports and arts and crafts and more. My kids just LOVE IT!! Best camp ever.
I used to love the outdoor camps but after coating my kids in sunscreen and bug spray and collecting them wilted from the heat or frizzled from the sun, or running inside to flee thunderstorms, I’m a big fan of TK’s mix of mainly indoor, some outdoor, kids come home thrilled to have moved their bodies all day and Terry and his crew really care about the kids deeply and know and remember them by name!!! They are amazing. TK Sports Camp!!!
