It is a little different. The goal of the ACA was to provide health insurance to tens of millions of people to ensure that people who had preexisting conditions were covered to make sure that all health insurance policies offered a decent set of services including preventive checks mental health etc.
if you want to do this without creating a government run program like Medicare you have to get buy in from insurance companies and health care providers

It hurt millions of people who can no longer afford health insurance - or crappy plans with high deductibles.

Liberals like to brush that under the rug.

Obamacare has its problems, especially making young/healthy people pay for insurance plans with high deductibles to subsidize insurance companies so they can still make lots of money. But I do not think Obama intended that to be the end of it. He needed something in place that he could later replace with single payer. We'll get there eventually.

"The mind-boggling number of lobbyists corporate America has hired to reshape the tax code is of almost biblical proportions and undoubtedly cost a fortune," said Lisa Gilbert, Public Citizen's vice president of legislative affairs. "But the rate reductions and other favors in the legislation will exact a far greater price on regular Americans."

Thirty-one of the thousands of lobbyists working on tax reform have ties to President Trump or Vice President Pence, Public Citizen found.

Many of those lobbyists worked on the Trump campaign or transition team, including David Urban, of American Continental Group; Altria's Cindy Hayden; Barry Bennett, of Avenue Strategies, which employs several Trump-connected lobbyists; Bryan Lanza, of Mercury; and Holland & Knight's Scott Mason.

What is Public Citizen? Is it an organization that advocates for public policy? Most members of Congress are not qualified or capable to write legislation on their own, so it is not a big deal to get outside help. Ultimately, the members of Congress should be held accountable in 2018 for their votes and what they ended up putting in the legislation.

Regular Americans pay a very small percentage of federal tax revenue, and their taxes are going down. So, it is unclear what the Public Citizen lobbyist is saying.

That’s why members of Congress have staff, staff they pay and who know how to write legislation. You’re suggesting that lobbyists who wine and dine members of Congress and are paid for by special interests are going to put the interests of average Americans first when they write legislation?

Where is Grover Norquist? He was everywhere with Obama complaining about the perils of deficit spending.

But I guess you're upset, because it wasn't YOUR party in DC lobbying, huh?

Ouch!

Being against lobbyists running the country is a non partisan opinion.

Or isn’t that what Trump implied with his call to drain the swamp? Or are you saying that was just another empty campaign promise?

From what I recall, both Clinton and Obama schmoozed with lobbyists quite regularly. Let's be honest.

So you’re cool with the lobbyist culture in DC then?

Check your comprehension, my friend.

Why should the little person play by the rules if the big corporations get giveaways? I see this as a huge encouragement to people to work and pay for things off book. Arguments I might have made to friends in the past regarding each of us sharing our fair load - well I no longer have much of an argument as to why the little person should play by the rules. The rules only apply to the little guy, the big corps get the republicans to ditch all the rules - from taxes to net neutrality to manadatorybarbitateation - the deck is staked in favor of corporations as “people” and against individual human people. Such a sad sad realization. We are just moments away from being no different than any other corrupt oligarchy. So much for spreading the us system globally. Instead, Russian corruptions comes to America.

Exactly. I've started to fantasize about losing my morals. Somehow I can not seem to do it, however. The thought of hurting others makes me feel sick. But, if I could just get rid of that feeling, wouldn't I be rich and happy?

Newsflash: The little guy isn't playing by the rules. NO ONE is playing by the rules. Do you get that?

I am. And I hate the fact that I am.

Perhaps you know where exactly to report my rich Liberal neighbors who have employed illegals for years?

PP - are you sure you are not just assuming that the people your neighbors hire are illegals? You can't tell by the way people look.

Why would you racists think this has anything to do with your skin color?

The average Millennial staff member does not know how to write legislation. They are there to help members enjoy the perks of power. When Obama consulted the insurance industry to write the Affordable Care Act, it was described as consulting the experts.

PP I don't even understand the prior response.... How can you tell your "liberal" neighbors employ "illegals"? Have you interrogated the people who work for your neighbors? My point is that you cannot tell by just seeing someone at your neighbor's home what they are doing, or their immigration status - no matter their size, shape, race, hair color, number of tattoos, car they drive, or what have you.
