Cold water can upset my stomach- any thoughts why?

Cold water does the same--makes my tummy hurt, and I have to run to the bathroom. Also, going into a cold room hurts my tummy too with the same reactions.

OP here. Actually, I've started to wonder if I have IBS. I have diarrhea a lot, sometimes several times a day, regardless of cold water or not.

Oh honey. That's not normal. Go to a doctor and get some help. It'll get worse before it gets better,, but it could be So. Much. Better.

Op this is definitely not normal, I have crohns and have the same issues. Please go to a doctor.

If you have diarrhea regardless of cold water, then perhaps cold water has nothing to do with it.

A Chinese medicine practitioner/ acupuncturist who does herbs, can give you herbs to "warm the stomach". But they will also advise drinking room temp to warm water. Ginger is a stomach warming herb. Cinnamon and cloves are warming too though not specifically for your stomach.

Also, you should probably eat less salad and raw fruits and focus more on cooked vegetables, grains and meats.

I'm pregnant and water makes me very nauseous. But otherwise no. I think you need to see a doctor about ibs and the diarrhea

Honestly Europeans are weird. Last time I asked for ice for my Coke the waiter was offended and told me the Coke had been refrigerated. So lame. Ice in a Coke is like a delicacy

I only drink ice cold water also, and have no poop problems.

Not the OP but you are a jerk. Is this all you have to contribute?

I guess refrigerated water makes your stomach upset. I'd drink warmer water.

A guy goes to his doctor and says, "Doc, it hurts when I do this." Doctor says, "Don't do that."

No a mainstream doc wont help you.

It's more like you are getting into the realm of IBS. And somebody that said eariler chinese medicine could explain this, is right on the mark. It is some sort of yin sensitiivty. THe body has become too yin and needs to be yang modified. Look into Lawrence wilsons Nutritional balancing program.

In Europe and Asian,t hey do not drink icy cold water. Always room temperature or slightly warm for digestion and stomach health. Although I've never heard that it causes diarrhea, but maybe it exacerbates your situation.

In Russia, drinking cold water gives you a cold and piles.
