If you are not going to eat anywhere the staff does drugs you are going to miss out on a *lot* of restaurants, and not just casual ones.

It's largely true that the restaurant business accommodates alchoholics and drug users, especially your most expensive restaurants. Those guys work hard and play harder. And have lots of cash.

(Sigh.) I worked in a bakery in college. No one did drugs (at least at the bakery....), so don't add that worry to your list of cons.

As for the troll, this is likely the same person who's been spewing all over the board. Please don't reply and s/he'll go away.

Daily weed smoker does not equal drug addict.

I currently work at Panera, actually I'm on break right now. It's a hard job, consisting the specs you have to follow and the fact that it's go go go or you have a bad night. They are very strict but they pay well and you get benefits when you walk through the door, medical, dental,etc... I have two children so I only work a couple of days a week as before I worked full time and let's just say that is a very hard thing to do on third shift with small children.

I was trained, I got certified and now I come in and enjoy myself

What's the salary like there, for bakers ans front of house? I've always been curious about how much they make.

Smoking weed as nothing to do with the difficulty of a job... you sound like a bitch

You should also not listen to rock musicians who do drugs. Who knows what goes into their music!

This. Also? I smoked up every day before a decade in big law. Weed: it's not just for restaurants!

Does Panera Bread hire inexperienced bakers? I've never fone any professional baking, but I worked as an associate for Panera bread about 2 years ago.

I worked in addictions/rehab back in college. MANY of those that were there because of drug convictions... worked in restaurants. Several worked at the nicest restaurant in town. (Suburban county in MD).

Whoever said being an overnight baker at Panera was not hard work should educate themselves. First of all, you're an associate you get to leave as soon as you clean your cookie cutter stations. Overnight baking is incredibly difficult, they make all the bread for the morning/mid day usually baking $2000 bakes. Not only is the Overnight Baking position incredibly difficult but the superiors are inconsiderate. At least in the area I know of. You work from 10pm to 6am, proofing, decorating (good luck because if one of your breads looks even slightly unperfect you could get suspended, bitched at, etc.) Sometimes you stay longer since those in charge of Baking Marketing and Supervising usually don't care enough to send you an additional baker like corporate mandates if your bake is over $1500.

How does this thread keep coming back ???

Is there only one overnight baker per store? That would be weird being alone overnight.

And, what is the pay?

That's because nobody is smoking weed overnight. Grouchy, no?

im with the grouchy dude f*ck panera im a baker in florida! my market managers are the laziest the pay is basically nothing. i make 11 and change an hour and i been working with them for 3 years. they just took our bonus checks away so dont even think about having an incentive, added more product that eats away at the time i barely had to get it all done. i work from about 8-9 pm to about 7 am if i dont have any issues. i bake alone every night and dont even think about asking for help because the management is alway "at another store in south miami with an issue" but really they sound like i disturbed them from a pretty awesome dream they were having at home in their beds.... welcome to any corporate restaurant. only thing i will say is the benefits are a tad expensive but good so i guess there's that lol ;\
