how do you dispose of dog waste?

We use the Doggie Doo Drain, and love it:

I have friends that use the Doggie Dooly, and they are happy with that one.

Plastic bags tied up and thrown into trash can. Doesn't smell or attract anything more than garbage in general does. We buy poop bags but try to use others as much as possible (food bags like those from bread, newspaper bags, etc.) I will say that we started out buying a specific brand (can't even remember what it was) of biodegradable poop bags but they began to biodegrade in the garbage can. Bad. Tried another brand and those last until garbage day without opening.

I buy the Earth Rated Poop bags, they smell of lavendar an biodegrade in 24 months, unlike normal plastic which will take 500 years. I get them from chewy.com. I tie a knot in each bag and throw it in the bin.

Try a Puppy Pad Wizard. It works great with poop bags!

It will be fine in summer. Won't smell great, but fine. I have never had rat issue or even flies. Main thing is to make sure your outside trash can has a lid that fits well. And, make sure you shut it properly each time.
Congrats on the puppy!

Trash in the summer stinks anyway. What do you do with rotting food or diapers? It sounds like you are overthinking this.

I was looking to adopt a cute puppy until I read this thread and realized I do not want to be picking up the poop.

Poop is no big deal. Get this can and dig a hole NOT where you sit/eat/walk. An area under a bush on the side of the house. http://www.amazon.com/Behrens-6110-10-Gallon-Locking-Lid/dp/B000AS3OW8/ref=sr_1_1?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1418044475&sr=1-1

Put a tall kitchen garbage bag in it weekly. Put the poop from the yard in it using a long handled shovel some of which come with small blades http://www.amazon.com/True-Temper-Round-Shovel-Handle/dp/B00D9F2ULU/ref=sr_1_19?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1418044736&sr=1-19&keywords=long+handled+shovel

Numerous things deodorize and keep flies off-chunks of cheap stick deodorant, lime, etc. Each week tie up the bag and put it in your own trash. On walks pick up poop in a plastic bag. Stck that bag in the poop can. That removes the small bag seep to the bottom of your large receptacle. That outdoor skud product can is also usable for gross yard debris like an occasional dead bird. Keep the shovel outside.

So if you're out on a walk, you've got to pick up the poo with a shovel to put it in one of those sewer line things on Amazon? Or reopen a poop bag and smash it in the funnel hole? God almighty, no thanks. If the planet burns up a few days earlier because of Mafter's poop bags in the landfill, it's a risk i'll have to take. Also, I wish I hadn't read this thread while eating.

I like picking up poop in the winter. It warms my hands.

We have been picking up our dog's waste in a disposable plastic dog waste bag and throwing it into the outdoor garbage can- this works now because the weather has been cold, but I'm concerned that once it warms up the outdoor garbage can will start to smell and attract flies/rats/etc. How do you dispose of your dog's waste?

Just please keep disposing it in your garbage can -- rather than someone else's as some less considerate dog owners do. If you don't like the smell, imagine how someone who chooses not to have a dog would feel.

I would not recommend this. I haven't personally heard of them but if they are anything like the supposed flushable toilet wipes then they will just clog up your sewer system. Trust me on that one.

I fling it at my enemies.

Those that live in red states know to pick it up and dispose of it without needing a law to tell them to.

We push or sweep it into the drains on the street.
