IMO, WTF, are we that busy? This made me laugh. I never understood most of these abbreviations. TY.

DS1 -- first child, in this case, a son
DD2 -- second child, in this case, a daughter

And doesn't "DD" also mean "Dear Darling," which could refer to either gender?

I always thought the 1 in DS1 referred to the age of the child. Seems the age is more relevant than birth order. It never occurred to me why I never saw DS7!

I've never heard of dear darling. The "dear" seems weird enough, without the darling.

IIRC: If I remember correctly

PP can also mean post-partum

KWIM - Know what I mean?
HSHHC - Weissbluth's book, Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child
YMMV - Your mileage may vary, meaning, your experience may be different from the one I'm relating here.

Add me to the chorus of folks who would rather just see this stuff typed out.

A new one I'm seeing a lot on blogs and such is NSFW: Not safe for work.

so what does it mean when people write 'bump'?
Anonymous
It means they don't have a reply, but they want to "bump" up the post on the list of messages, since the one with the most recent reply is listed first. Otherwise, because this is such a busy board, a message can get buried and never get a response. HTH ("hope that helps")

DP - dear partner (same-sex couples usually, but not always)

Also, just btw, these abbreviations are common with texting and instant messaging (for the posters who seem to think they are DCUM specific).
