why is the 4 month old baby at the convention tonight??

First of all, it's one hours earlier there (so the baby is awake at 9:30...big deal for one night...Christ you guys are harsh!).
What I took away from seeing her family is that the husband is probably the hands-on parent.
There's no rule that the mom has to do the day-to-day childcare.

Okay...Scenario...Your husband takes your kids to see you at work...You're around all your associates and "Working" ...Do you hold your 4 month old baby the entire time? no. Get real and get over yourselves. Stop nitpicking.

Dem woman here. Just pointing out that no one would be criticizing Palin for not being enough of a hands-on parent if she were a man.

Oh all the candidates drag their family onto the stage with them. As distasteful as I find Sarah Palin, last night she did nothing that any other candidate hasn't done in bringing her family on stage with her.

Now the boyfriend and father of her grandchild....that I'm not sure what to make of. The McCain campaign would have been better off if they had brought the boyfriend in for the very first announcement instead of having poor Bristol spend the whole time apparently holding her brother strategically in order to hide her pregnancy. Bringing him in now makes it look like a cynical political ploy. (And notice how the baby was passed around among others and held in different positions last night. Really confirms my belief that poor Bristol was trying to hide her body at the announcement.)

Note to self -- if I ever run for vp with a pregnant teen in the house, make it public immediately -- from the very first minute!

I think it's because they want to emphasize the "privacy" that they want for their children.

It seems the father is more comfortable holding the baby than the mother. She was a little stiff, I might add.

Sadly it does not suprise me one bit that this is being dragged through the mud on a female centric message board. Everyone acts as if Sarah does not have a husband, last time I checked she is not a single mom.

My son could have easily sat through that at 4 mos old. We actually have been taking our son to Wolf trap to see concerts since he was born. He often says up late. We also are a Hispanic family and when we party EVERYONE parties all night long. Any latinos out there know what I'm talking about, so from my perspective this is nothing shocking

What's so pointless about all of these stupid threads is that if Sarah Palin was a Democrat you all would be worshipping the ground she walks on. This is why I can't stand politics. If Hilary had a 4-month old baby, etc., you would be praising her about how she can "do it all" and what a "great example she is to our little girls". Blah blah blah. I didn't see near as many M.Obama bashing as you guys are doing to Palin. Probably because Republicans have a touch more class and we don't have the need to nitpick on every friggin thing just because she's a Democrat! ugh! Just makes me sick.

You pick on people talking about how Palin is pretty and has a "photogenic" family, but not too long ago you were talking about Michelle Obama's wardrobe and how pretty she is. blech. Such double-standards.

Okay, that's pretty bad. But in fairness to Palin, isn't 9:30 Minnesota time like 4:30 or 5:30 pm Anchorage time? Hardly bedtime!

No one seems to be taking into consideration the fact that Treg is a Downs baby. Downs babies are much more prone to all sorts of illnesses and infections than are normal babies. To have that baby passed around and exposed to so many germs really made me sick. For at least 15 minutes one of his siblings kept licking her hand and rubbing her saliva into his head. Good goin!

Oh brother. The only "new" person who he was passed around was Cindy McCain. Sorry, I don't think Trig was exposed to anymore germs that unusual by being passed around by his sisters, mother, and father. You make it sound like he went through the convention.

For all intents and purposes, he did go right through the convention. It was appalling.

This thread is laughable.

I think you are absolutely right. Double-right, in fact. Not only would the Dems adore her, the Repubs would be attacking her just as the Dems are now. It seems to be human nature that our brains automatically create reasons to justify what our guts have decided.

Putting special needs children first? What the hell has she done for special needs children????

It is laughable to suggest that she is putting her any of her children first - much less her special needs child. She is putting her career first. Period. There is no way she can campaign for VP, be a governor of Alaska and still put her children first. If she was paying so much attention to them, why the hell was her teenage daughter having sex with her boyfriend (as we all know mom believes in abstinence only!).

We see the Palin family a few minutes here and a few minutes there. We get only a mere snapshot of the family dynamics.

We blow out of proportion the "scandalizing" moments (baby out of teen wedlock, working mom, etc.) because we can relate, find them interesting, and/or fun to gawk and criticize.

Would your thoughts be different if you knew that Palin pumped at work? That Todd is transforming into a Mr. Mom?
