Why do beautiful people have ugly babies?

"Breath taking"

Does anyone think Bruce and Demi's girls are beautiful? They are all certainly unique looking but I've never considered any of them to be particularly attractive.

I always thought Prince Harry was an unsightly kid but boy did he grow up fine.

.

I actually thought they were cute as little girls (1 in particular was very pretty), but puberty was not kind to them. But once again, I don't care how beautiful they are, EVERYONE in Hollywood has had some form of plastic surgery.

I don't think Bruce & Demi's kids are attractive. I also don't think Michelle Williams' daughter is attractive, and I don't think Jessica Alba has very attractive kids. I feel kind of bad saying stuff like that, but these are people who are paid to be in the public eye, so criticism of their looks and their kids' looks are part of the deal. I didn't initially think the oldest Garner/Affleck kid was that attractive, but she's getting cuter with age.

Prince Harry was kind of funny looking growing up, but now? Dammmmmn.

Whenever I see the title to this thread, I find myself imagining that the OP is chastising the parents (like the myriad of posts on here criticizing others' lifestyle choices). "Didn't you think it through? Don't you like being attractive? You should have passed those genes onto your kids!"

Add Gwyneth Paltrow to the list. Reese Whiterspoon's are gorgeous. Brangelina's also look very promising.

They are much closer to ugly than to beautiful. They are young and slim, so compared to an average woman on a street, they are somewhat attractive, but within the category of young and slim, way below average.

My DH's attractive cousin had a kid that was startlingly unattractive as a baby, the kind of kid where we involuntarily gasped when we opened the first e-mail with a picture of her at six months. Now she is six and really cute for many of the same reasons that she was an unattractive baby. She had unusual proportions (head to body, facial features to face size) and it looked strange on a small child, but just fine once she grew into her proportions. Sometimes a feature that makes you striking takes time to develop in balance with the rest of your appearance. I don't think this is what is going on with people like Jessica Alba, who isn't striking looking, just a perfectly attractive girl who works hard on her appearance. But, people like Tilda Swinton, who you notice because there is something so remarkable and particular about how she looks.

DH has cousin and husband - both very attractive. All three sons - now grown - are fairly homely. All three of them have the "weaker" features of their parents. DH also has friend who is very, very attractive. His dad was quite unattractive - except his eyes - and the mom is very striking. His two older brothers look like the dad. He inherited his dad's great eyes and the rest of his mother's beauty.

Most babies are ugly. Their chubbiness saves them from being grotesque looking. They cuteness thing doesn't really set in until they are toddlers and they start to look more human.

Look at Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry's daughter. She's just average looking. She will probably grow up to be stunning but as of right now? I've seen cuter..way cuter.

I read somewhere (not genetics textbook, mind you) that genes for facial features are positioned in such a way that sons' features tend to be more like their mothers', while daughters' are a mix of fathers' and mothers'.

My husband and I, on the other hand, are nothing special and probably would be in the flat out "ugly" category to most of you.

We are interracial, and our kid looks like a freaking model. I'm not saying this b/c I don't see him for who he is - I do, but really, he's just always been one that is very attractive and appealing.

Most of our friends actually tell us that it's b/c he is mixed. One, recently, called him a "hybrid" - I guess this is a new term I was unaware of.

I think their little girl is adorable. She's right up there with Suri Cruise for cutest celeb kids. I think Brangelina's oldest bio (the one they want to look like a boy) is super cute, but their twins not so much.

I think this is true. My DD was bald for the first year of her life. After her hair grew in, it really complemented her face and softened her features (she has a large head like her daddy). She is gorgeous now.
