Son bummed about looking young for his age

It is most likely a puberty thing OP. It is different for everyone.

Some boys put on a lot of weight and then shoot up, some become skinny as they shoot up in height and then fill out later, others seem to grow more proportionally.

And of course some guys will be naturally skinny or stocky etc their whole lives.

But at this age it is fairly likely to change.

You don’t get context, do you? Congrats!

When I showed up on my first day of being a teaching assistant as a grad student, the professor told me there was no way the students would respect me because I looked 14.

We all look very young in the family. Ageism in reverse - we suffered from it when young, but less as we age.

So tell him that when his peers all look like hags, he might still look youthful and he's less likely to be pushed out... if he takes care of himself (sunscreen, clean living).

Same. 18y son is 5'8 and 130lbs. No facial hair and looks 15y. His drivers license looks fake because he looks like a kid. I am 50y and a new coworker and I were talking last week about 9/11 and I was saying how I was at work when it happened and....blah blah and she was shocked that I was old enough to work in 2001...I was 26y...god bless her, she thought I was 40y.

Ageism won’t matter, his career will be hampered as short king. Average US height is 5’9”, for non Hispanic whites it’s 5’10”.

Is he likely to grow taller? I would honestly consider growth hormone since men today are BREAKING their legs to get taller as adults.

It hampers career, dating, sports…

PP should’ve just said that he will seem like a normal weight for his height, no reason to make a comparison and say that he is not skinny, because generally when you talk about opposites not skinny equals fat. There is an idea in the median, but that was not what was stated.

Does he lift weights?

At the risk of stating the obvious, the muscle doesnt just magically appear. Sure, its WAY easier to build muscle at that age, but some sort of resistance training would still help expedite the process.

I get context, sweetie, the context here is just not what you think it is. 115 lbs is on the low end of weight for a 5'6" male, even if some males weigh less, and for you to suggest that it is average is really disordered.

I’m amazed at 14yo DS’ friends and how much it varies. Some look like 11-12yos and a few that look like adult men.

Very stupid

Most people have something they are dealing with. If short stature is he only thing my kid deals with, I'll count myself lucky. And yes, he'll probably be 5'6" to 5'8", so it's not hypothetical to us.

It wasn’t stated that anyone thought he was fat. No one was talking about opposites except you.
