What could they be doing in there?

They are obviously repairing the existing appliances or whatever.

The thing is, they never take anything in, and never bring anything out. No furnace. No AC unit. No water heater. No large amounts of duct work, pipe, wire, etc etc. A third truck just pulled up. I sit on conference calls all day and I’ve just been watching essentially nothing happen for two weeks.

I’d ask him but he’s sort of mean and not approachable. Any ideas, DCUM, on what they could be doing in there without a large amount of supplies, for two weeks?

Even if he looks mean, this is a good ice breaker, ask him. You are dying to know AND being with neighbors on good terms is almost always a good idea.

A few years ago we got a new furnace. It was not installed correctly. There were many follow up trips by the HVAC people.

You said three visits in two weeks. Then you changed that to all day for two weeks. Which is it?

All day, each day they’ve been there, over the two weeks. Sorry you were confused!

But didn’t they bring equipment and things to fix it? And did they need four people?

Sometimes they brought equipment / tools / parts. Sometimes they didn't. Don't recall four people at once, but three people at once numerous times.

OP, please be careful. You're not focused on your work and may lose your job.

Sure, Jan

they never take anything in, and never bring anything out

PP is right--very likely some kind of troubleshooting. But a neighborly way to start a conversation might also be to ask if they recommend that company for service.

My husband has a grow room... to start his heirloom tomatoes from seed. I don't think you'd need 3 trucks to repair an irrigation system for that.

I love that OP is baffled that someone could be doing plumbing or electrical work on a house without bringing in a bunch of new pipes or wires

Probably surveilling you. They are actually feds.

Trades people don't have the best educations. I am sure OP's Ivy degree could do the work more efficiently and cheaper. That's why she is concerned.
