Morning People - 5am work out — when is bedtime?

Op, you “work” from home (and I use work loosely) 2 x’s a week. You could workout those 2 days and the weekend. That’s 4 days which is enough.

I missed the 2X WFH. Are you driving your kids to school? You can work out at 7 when they leave.

Up to bed at 9 lights out at 930

In bed by 9.

I’m like you and WOH 5 days a week and have three kids too. I do all my chores in the morning. Laundry is folded, house is tidied, etc. I have no extra $ to outsource.

So I need to aim for 7 hrs of sleep at least. 5 is just not feasible even with a boost from regular exercise?

I find myself more tired the days I work out (though I workout pretty intensely). So no extra boost for me. You also need sleep for recovery. Though I have a pretty stressful job that doesn’t allow me to WFH, so maybe that adds to it.

Why do people keep their kids out of the house until 9 pm every night of the week? Doing what?? I will never understand this.

Invest in whatever it is you need so you can exercise at home, if that’s possible. I have about $400-500 worth of kettle bells and other weights for strength training, for example. The only thing I can’t do at home is swim. Everything else I do at home. I’m usually in bed at 10 at the latest. It’s not uncommon for me to wake up at 3:30am eat something so I’m not doing something running entirely on empty, passing back out, and getting on a bike for ~2 hours and running afterwards.

If it’s a priority, you will figure out how to make the time.

^forgot the wake back up at 5:00-5:30 part above, THEN on a bike. 🤣

These are high school kids. Lots of activities start later so kids can do sports right after school, and many games are late too.

Between 9 and 10 to wake up easily at 5

Yes we drive our kids to school, so 7-9 is spoken for with kids.

Spouse has the more stressful job, so usually works 8am-6pm; I finish at 430 to pickup kids, make dinner, and get them to sports/music/adhd tutor. Each individual kid only has about 2 activity a week — it’s just the older kids activities run late and the combination means I’m running around all week.

When spouse gets home at 7, handles the kids at home with their homework etc.

Then what are you doing at 7? What are you cleaning at 9? Why does it take 2 hours? It seems like you guys have time but are not using it well.

You can go at lunch a couple times a week and then eat at your desk. Or you can have your partner take the kids to school in the morning two days a week.

Can you alternate dropoff and/or have one person manage kid wake up/breakfast so at least a few days a week you could work out 6-7? My husband manages kid wake up/breakfast so most days I can work out before then (but not at 5 am, too early for me!) and then quickly shower and take over with kid stuff.

At 7pm I’m driving a kid to an activity; spouse is handling the REMAINING kids.

We make dinner from scratch every night, so I load the dishwasher, wash remaining dishes by hand, wash counters, sweep and mop before bed. Usually there’s some other chore like laundry or such that is pressing.

Can you go jogging while kids are at their activities?
