My grandparents named their 3rd son after my grandfather. I don't think it mattered at all. I never asked them why because it never occurred to me to care. Maybe they ran out of names they liked (which is hilarious if you hear my Dad and his brother's first names) and maybe my grandmother was finally like "fine! you can get this one". Who knows.
