Stratford Landing Elementary for Level IV?

WW has much more of a community feel. I didn't choose Stratford because I valued my kid being able to hang out in the neighborhood with friends after school

We are at Stratford and my kid loves it. We moved from Fort Hunt. He frequently complained of being bored at school but we do not hear that now. I know there are complaints about the principal but we haven’t had any experience with him in two years. There has been teacher turnover but overall we are happy with his teachers. With Fort Hunt we had to decide if he was going to be in level IV or not so it was an easy decision for us.

Fort Hunt is our base school too and some more perspective for what it's worth: Friends who have Stratford as their base school have also said they haven't noticed any issues with the principal, as have neighbors whose kids range from K (pupil placed for sibling in special needs preschool there) to 6th grade AAP.

My daughter is in 6th grade at Fort Hunt and a lot of her classmates who qualified for level IV stayed at Fort Hunt for the Spanish Immersion and have thrived. If your kid is in Spanish Immersion, it provides more of a challenge, sure, and that works for many kids. But if your kid isn't in immersion, or if it's not a great fit for them for a variety of reasons, they may get bored at Fort Hunt fast, especially with the lack of the Local Level IV (see another thread about that).

It seems most WW families choose to stay v. going to Stratford.

We are going to be leaving our base school in the Fall and attending Level IV services at Stratford Landing for 3rd grade. I believe the school does a lot of community building in the first several weeks...but was curious if any other transferring parents were interested in having meetups at the SLES playground in the coming weeks/over the summer...meet new classmates and perhaps help with the transition a bit.

2nd year at Stratford Landing. (We transferred in at 3rd and we are completing 4th grade now.) We love it. The teaches are very good, we have not had any behavioral issues in our 2 years. The principle is very present, engaged and hands on. We think he is great. The PTA is very good. We love the a lot of things about it.

Also, it's policy if 1 child is admitted into AAP and transfers schools, the other sibling can change also. They talk about that in the AAP orientation brief.

It will be interesting to see what happens to all of these center schools now that more and more local schools are offering level 4 services
