The rural places are charging money to look up? Yes, flight tickets are expensive but we've found the rest (rental car, hotel) to be reasonable. We're going to a major city that's not in totality, then driving an hour to be in totality. |
Do you seriously have to drag that piece of shit into everything??!!! |
I wish a wormhole would open in the universe and drag him into it! |
Traffic will be a nightmare. Plan accordingly. |
I don't care about eclipses. At all. |
I’ found a place for $450 a night. Some people are charging $1000 plus a night and the we are paying $100 to get a spot at a park. |
I recommend Annie Dillard’s essay Total Eclipse. It’s a great read and captures what all the fuss is about. She says something like, seeing a partial eclipse vs. totality is like kissing a man vs. marrying him. |
I have read seeing a partial eclipse is like being almost dead. |
Drove to TN to see total eclipse in 2017 and driving to VT for this one. I'm not usually one for these types of things, but it was pretty cool. Kids loved it, too. |
We're spending a lot on airfare, nothing on lodging (staying with a friend). I expect the payoff to be emotional. Intellectually it's just a big shadow. But it affects the environment in a way that we're wired to react to. That's what I hope anyway. |
That is the most moronic comparison I've read in a long time. Not selling it, PP! |
I got to see the total eclipse from my deck and it was superb. I think my favorite part was all the birds flying home to their roosts.
I'm a long way from this year's but if you have a chance to see it, then see it. |
Big YAWN |
Np, and right there with you on the list of things I could not care less about. |
We drove for the last one because we could affordably get closer. This one? Prices are too high and we will just see what we see at home. |
