Jumping job to job is how you move up.

If I don’t see hope in building meaningful relationships with the senior ranks, jumping around will def max the comp at a given level/industry. At least you can buy some nice stuffz.

I regret early in my career not responding to executive recruiters or networking. You need to create visibility and awareness because that helps put you in the right place at the right time. But at the end of the day you'd better be able to perform because results count.

Never crossed my mind to keep looking for another rich person who could hire me so I could keep making money for them.
I don't wonder how well others are doing because they know someone. I wonder why they don't work for themselves as hard as they are willing to work for someone else.

Really?!? What a strange thing to wonder. Let me enlighten you - its called risk tolerance.

Don’t know about golf, I don’t play & it hasn’t been an issue.

But I’ve seen this plenty in my career & my husband’s. We are not the smartest in the room, or the most well connected or well educated (or the best looking, to the poster who commented on the siblings’ looks). But our strengths are hard work & EQ. We can build consensus on teams & are able to put people at ease and work with varied personalities. We can smooth the track for everyone else on the team to work harmoniously. I credit this skill for any promotions & success we’ve had.

We don’t work in vacuums, it makes sense that people skills are a factor in the workplace.

Additionally, emotional intelligence (EQ) holds greater significance than intellectual intelligence (IQ). No matter how intelligent one may be, lacking the right connections renders them merely another diligent worker. Lastly, it is advisable to master the art of playing golf proficiently as it opens doors to opportunities within the senior leadership of a company.

True and false. I've seen many people leverage their connections but also seen many rise on their own. Its a wash in my experience.

Yep. It's also how you give yourself promotions too. Don't wait for the boss to give you one.
