This is how I treat it as well; I like adding different furikake blends to mine.

I view it as just another grain. So I tend to toss in anything I would put into a stir fry (so I would precook the veggies) and maybe top with a fried egg. I love how soothing the warm oatmeal is with a little oozing egg yolk is all I need for comfort food.

I like to treat it like risotto. Make it with chicken stock and parmesan - add in any of the following: mushrooms, peas, asparagus.
