"No Labels" Party

Manchin will re-elect Trump (or install DeSantis) if he runs. The GOP has a rock-solid 46% of the vote. That ain’t changing to vote for someone moderate. But plenty of people who would vote Democrat because they don’t like Trump and the GOP will happily vote No Labels. That’s all we need to get the job done.

Of course you would. That is the point. They aren't "dems" but have been labeled as such.

I think we all need to move towards a middle we can live with….

If you truly want “the middle” then make an effort to implement ranked choice voting. That’s how NYC elected a moderate former policy officer for Mayor over a slate of progressives.

That’s how Alaska elected a moderate Democrat to the House.

The left has high jacked the Democratic Party. The same folks need some place to go.

You’re a right winger hoping to boost this new GOP party spinoff.

The Democratic Party leader is a traditional liberal, not a progressive. There are far left progressives in the party who want things like universal health care. Compare that to the mainstream of the republican party who want a White Christian Nationalist country.

Not the same.

Where is the middle on abortion? I see NO GOP willing to legislate for the Roe-V Wade standard. What we see are total bans, bans at 6 weeks or 12 weeks. What happens if something happens to the fetus at 20 weeks? Just make the woman carry it to term everything else be damned?

Where is the middle on guns? I see NO GOP legislating for a middle ground. All unfetted access with NO background checks or other restrictions.

I could go on, but there is no middle we can all live with where the current GOP is concerned.

Well, the middle means we don’t all get what we want. I don’t mean to be disrespectful to your passion on guns and abortion.

Manchin isn’t my dream candidate either.

I’d like to think that there are a lot of Americans like me who would give up some political goals that are important to them in order to re-establish a middle in this country.

I want women to be in absolute control of their bodies. There is no middle ground on this.

He has no national appeal for the Democrats, but he is the best Democrat in West Virginia for the Senate.

Except Manchin has been torpeoding Biden proposals to protect his personal coal interests. That is not a democrat or GOP issue, it is just plain corruption.

He is as corrupt as the day is long and sinus his daughter who charges $500 for an epi pen.

Agree that the party changed on him.

To be fair, no not really. He just decided to take a harder line on a few key issued because he or his daughter, had vested stakes in them.

Women are already experiencing “not getting what we want” from the current President on abortion. That’s what is getting lost here— we’re already in the compromise. Joe Biden is a centrist whose beliefs on abortion are far to the right of many women and much of his party. Running even more conservative candidates is not a compromise and does not move the country to the middle.

By the way, Roe v. Wade is “the middle” on abortion. Not restricting healthcare based on gender/ERA is the progressive position.

You’re a twisted duck, blaming the assault on human rights on… Joe Biden? What’s your deal? Doing the work of this stupid GOP party?

I don’t blame Biden for the SCOTUS ruling, but I don’t think he has done nearly enough on this issue since. Pretending to think he’s blameless while
he takes no action is basically the Trump Republicans playbook—no thank you.

My point is, we’re already compromising now. Asking women to make further concessions as the poster I was quoting was doing.

What, exactly, would you have Biden do, short of stacking the court?

I would have him order the Justice Department to open criminal investigations into each case in which a woman has been denied care since Roe v. Wade in direct contradiction of the instructions of the federal government that lifesaving care must still be provided. Hospitals claim they’re afraid to perform abortion because they’re afraid of the states, let them weigh that against their legal vulnerability to federal charges.

I would have had him say more than one sentence about abortion during the state of the union.

I would have had him propose legislation in the lame duck session to codify Roe and out every one of these “moderate republicans” on record ahead of their reelection.

I would have had him order every federal
agency to provide a risk-mitigation plan for federal employees who might find themselves ordered to work in states where they cannot access healthcare.

That’s the short list.
