Anyone go to 2012 boys tryouts? What's the opinion of the club in this age group? I have a 2012 boy who was on the lower field of play, we're coming from CYA rec.

Yea, and dont fall for ive got to make decisions about other kids. If you kid is good then they will wait. Or risk over loading a roster and pissing lower caliber kids parents. Clubs are loyal to your kids (esp bubble players) so do whats best for your kid. Its a min of 3k commitment and they should know thats not chump change.

My understanding is most of the current 2012 Silver team (the lowest team) was a CYA rec team (maybe a CYA all star team) and the coach was the rec coach. I have also heard that team is actually better than the 3rd team but that was from a silver parent. I guess that 4th team is now the black team. So they have four teams, it should be easy to get a spot but not sure a spot you want.

Let the coach know the situation. They're used to this.

Disagree. If pp can stall without the coach knowing they are shopping around, they are better off.

I hate to break it to you, but they know without you spelling it out.

This. Coaches are cold calling parents who signed up for tryouts and didn't show for day one of tryouts. They know people are leaving and already backfilling spots.

Yes - the talent gap between the top 2 teams and the bottom 2 teams is pretty wide. The silver team (4th team/future black team) is I would say almost equal to the 3rd team but a long way from the 2nd team and longer way to the top team (current gold/next year ecnl-r). The fourth team plays in the lowest NCSL division but has a chance at promotion. Someone posted a link to the NCSL schedule/results in the last few pages of this thread.

Overall, Valor 2012 B is not strong. First team is 3rd from bottom in the league. Good player already or will leave.. But if you come from rec, I would say any club is similar. Just find the one close and less expensive..

Good, they finally got rid of that crappy coach Ryan.

Worry about their top 'pre ecnl' teams. Bottom team players from other clubs are getting offers from Valor gold teams.

Which age group? U11 or U12? Boys or girls?

Also gold is second team starting next year so if the offer says gold team it is not pre ECNL.

Absolutely, I wouldn't put any stock into the team designated color. Understanding the level of play, performance of the potential players and obtaining as much early incite is important. Number 1-2 teams have already been pre-chosen. In changing age groups, unless your kid is performing in there current team as in the top 10 percent, good luck into moving him up.

Trump disagrees. Colors matter.

The "Team designated color" is the most important thing. Valor assigns its best coaches to the higher teams (look at the teams they still haven't found coaches for). A spot on a lower team means practicing with weaker players all year and a weaker coach.

My pet turtle is coaching the 2011 G 5th team. I don't know what you mean about lower teams having weaker coaching.

Who is coaching the gold team? Can't imagine the families being happy with that if this is true.

They're going to use a magic eight ball to coach the gold team. It's just Valor after all.

The 2011 girls have two very good coaches. Both have great track records. Both coach HS soccer. They sent out information. DD is on the second team and staying there. Looking forward to seeing how they do.
