Why can’t boys join Girl Scouts ?

Anonymous
My two sons are in Cub Scouts and were affiliated with a pack that had girls. Administratively they are in different "dens" but go to the same meetings and events as the other scouts in the same rank. We also had mothers volunteer to be den leaders as well as other leadership positions.

I have not heard any of the boys express a desire to join Girl Scouts even after we bought their cookies. The boys also don't have their experience altered by women in the pack, for example at camp outs the boys are allowed quite a bit of freedom and independence without being lectured or hovered over. The only change really is the boys learn restraint from being rude or jeering at the girls during campfire skits, but that's an important life skill to learn.

They can join boy scouts. Problem solved.

Pretty sure this thread was created to provoke arguments though.

I actually like that Girl Scouts remains a safe place for girls to be girls. My daughter loves her troop. It would be said to see it switch to co-ed.

Where is there a safe place for boys in 2024 ?

I know you're just here to be obnoxious, not to actually look for an answer, but maybe this will be helpful for someone else (all found in a quick and easy google search, except for the programs I already knew about through my own kids' schools)

They feel they can best do that in an environment that doesn't include boys.

But when it was suggested that boys do better in environments without girls, feminists went insane with rage and destroyed it.

How’s that work?

NP. You mean the thing where all the adult troop leaders molested little boys, and the resulting lawsuits left them in dire need of revenue, so they began to admit girls?

How’s that related to feminist rage? Remind me.

Right? MEN f'ed up big time, and now they want to blame women.
Seems about right. And a vivid example of why GSUSA exists.

No, not (as you put it), “MEN.” That is a gross over generalization and a stereotype only a truly hateful misandrist could come up with.

Be specific: homosexual pedophile men. They “f’ed up big time” (as you put it).

Sadly, they had plenty of cover by many men in the organization.

The local councils and national organization swept the sexual abuse under the rug for decades.
And people want to blame women for the changes BSA made to avoid financial ruin?!?

Yes, the coverup counts as much as the crimes.

Women are not responsible for pedo boy scout leaders and the cover up within the organization. If men had taken better care of the boys they were responsible for, they wouldn't have needed to open up the organization to girls / women so it wouldn't go under.

The poor poster probably lives in a backwards red state that doesn't provide much for boys only, since it's harder to keep the abusers away there.

Well the person advocating Trail Life is probably pretty backwards herself.

Girl Scouts are out of date when it comes to not allowing boys and just having girls in there Times of change just like the Boy Scouts of girls into their clubs. The Girl Scout should do the same if they don’t it’s unequal and what’s good for the goose should be good for the Gander if they don’t change, they will come across as sexist just like the Boy Scouts have had to Change The Girl Scouts need to change as well and allow boys in. You can’t More choices for girls than boys because that right there is a sexist attitude to have times of changed girl Scouts need to change with the times as well or be canceled. It’s up to them.

Former Girl Scout leader's child molestation sentence
A former Kennesaw Girl Scout leader is sentenced to prison for aggravated sexual battery and child molestation. A Cobb County jury found Allison Wean guilty on all counts Friday afternoon. The victim was a member of her Girl Scout troop.

I think it’s good for girls and boys to have their own spaces sometimes especially at younger ages.

It’s just typical double standards because sexism is unilateral according to Schrodinger’s feminist who is both a victim feminist and an empowered feminist. Once the box is open, she identifies with the most ideal manipulation tactic within the strict guidelines of virtue-signaled superior morality.

Agree, but

Try organizing two private classes for kids; name one “Coding for Girls,” and the other “Coding for Boys.”

Let us know how that turns out (although I think we all know the answer, if we are honest).

What used to be called “boy scouts of America” is now co-ed and has changed its name to Scouts-BSA.

Why then, can’t boys join Girl Scouts ?

TLR. Boy Scouts of America became coed for their own reasons, primarily for dropping participation numbers therefore they needed to open to girls to survive. Girl Scouts is not in that situation, and is a separate private organization, so is not pursuing that.

This idea that everything must be open to everyone is really ridiculous. Are you complaining that your neurotypical child can't compete in the Special Olympics? Why not? People with intellectual disabilities can participate in standard sports teams. Isn't it a double standard and exclusive? (Obviously I'm being sarcastic, but my point stands that not every thing is meant for everybody and that's okay).
