Why have 3+ kids if you can’t afford a babysitter?

OP expresses an unfortunately typical individualistic American attitude. Other cultures are inclusive of others’ kids, help to care for them, and don’t see them as a nuisance.

On a side note, thank goodness my DCs are close in age and share the same interests.

It’s very uncommon to have more than 1-2 kids in Europe and kids behave very well. The same in well developed Asian countries.

Today I was at DC’s hockey practice and I was trying to work. There was a group of overweight, toothless women with a bunch of kids waiting for their kid to finish practice.

They let their toddler strapped in the stroller scream for a full hour our on top of their lungs in a public waiting room.

I finally came up to them and pointed out that they have been screaming for an hour. She told me how it was so rude of me because it’s a public place and “babies cry”.

It never occurred to her it was rude to subject to the other four dozen adults to her baby crying. And that’s how they roll.

She's technically right. Why didn't you go to somewhere more quiet or your car? You are in a public waiting room. PUBLIC. Of course there are kids there.

I would never get a babysitter for another kids karate class. Weddings of course I would. Poker night? One of us stays at home.
