I thought it was an Onion headline when I first saw it.

if the description of what happened is correct (including that a police officer was knocked to the ground by his car and mildly injured), he was lucky he was not shot. people have been shot for just driving away from the police (like the guy on the GW parkway hears ago) |
Sounds like he thought the backup didn't apply to the golfers? I could see that. |
Ahhh give Scottie a mulligan. |
Yes, I could see him thinking it was a backup for spectators and vendors and he as a golfer was supposed to put on hazards and go around (I’ve heard that’s what they do). But once the police grabbed his car, dude, just stop. |
Sounds like the cop is a prima donna who thinks he's going to sue a rich golfer.
Remember, ACAB. Of course, any golfer who signed onto the LIV (did Scheffler?) is a terror sympathizer who will burn in Hell for eternity for aligning themselves with a disgusting regime. |
Scheffler is not a LIV golfer. I have so many questions about this story, not the least of which is how and why you would "attach" yourself to a vehicle. Where was the officer? On the hood? Holding onto the driver's side door? If the officer had to bang his flashlight on the car to get Scheffler to stop, wouldn't that suggest that Scheffler didn't know the officer was attached to his vehicle? How did the officer go from being attached to the vehicle to pulling Scheffler out? Did the players even know that there had been a pedestrian death in the area at that time? I also suggest that the Louisville PD invest in some rain gear that identifies them as police. In the video from the ESPN reporter, some of the officers, but not all, had reflective gear that anyone, including parking attendants, might wear. Some did have "POLICE" written on the back only. RIP to the person who died this morning (in an accident that had nothing to do with Scheffler). What a mess. |
It doesn’t sound like he tried to go around anything, just that he accidentally hit a cop while trying to follow the directions.
Unfortunately for him, it’s on you as the driver to not hit any people. |
Even if 100% guilty, Scottie with get the (popular white talent) Morgan Wallen treatment. No follow up necessary. |
I first assumed overzealous cop, but when you read the details, Scottie sounds like an entitled scumbag who thought the rules didn't apply to him.
And Scottie is in fact a born super rich country club kid turned really rich pro golfer who was been pampered his entire life. It was a closed street for a pedestrian FATALITY investigation. You don't get to drive through a fatal CRIME SCENE because you're a pro golfer. |
No doubt there will be a lot of pressure to dismiss everything. But those are some very serious charges. And the injured cop doesn't have to play along. If this was a rich black basketball or football player, everyone would be calling him an entitled thug, why does the rich white country club raised golfer get the benefit of the doubt? |
Scottie didn't throw a chair off a roof onto a busy sidewalk. He was in a well-marked PGA car that was obviously heading into the tournament. He had no way of knowing there was a major accident. It sounds more like the police were a bunch of Keystone Kops on a power trip and it was all a misunderstanding. And Scheffler is known to be one of the nicest players in the PGA. He's already issued a very thoughtful statement explaining the incident. And what kind of police procedure involves 'attaching" oneself to a moving vehicle anyway? I am generally pro-police. I think it can be a really difficult job. But good lord they do hire some idiots. |
Most cops are bloody idiots. The barrier to entry is incredibly low. It is tougher to become a real estate agent. This is why ACAB. |
Nobody gives a damn what sport you play, you do not get to drive thru an active crime scene investigation of a fatality, no less. And when police tell you to stop, you need to comply. |
Everyone keeps mentioning the investigation of the pedestrian fatality, but do we know that the players were aware of this? Other players are saying that it is standard practice for players to drive around traffic barriers to enter the grounds, so they might not have known about the investigation. |
