Has anyone experienced the eviction of a family member from their home? I think I personally am still traumatized by it---perhaps vicarious trauma. Aside from doing things to help the family, has anyone just been traumatized by the eviction itself and what their family members are going through? |
Oh geez |
Poor you, time to help your family and stop wallowing in your own feelings about it |
Poor landlord. To get evicted you have to not pay rent for months at least. |
I can't tell who you are upset for. Yourself or your family member.
And agreed, it takes a lot to get someone evicted. |
Actually you could pay the rent and the landlord not pay the mortgage and you will never know until the day the sheriff shows up at your door. |
Who says I"m not helping? That's why I am coming to an anonymous board and not sharing with my family members. |
Yeah, that's not who I am worried about right now. |
Agree. I am still heartbroken and devastated for my family. Both things can be truie |
Why didn’t they pay their rent? |
You should not be traumatized, and you should not have been there when they were physically being escorted out. |
What is traumatizing about their eviction for YOU, exactly? |
You managed to make someone else's eviction about YOU? So dcurbanmom. |
I’m struggling to understand but can imagine there’s a lot of emotion around your parents or siblings having such a terrible time. Who was evicted? |
Not here on DCUM! Too high a proportion of the poster population with training in an adversarial system of justice, is my theory. They just can’t inhabit flexibility that well—they don’t even know it would be a good thing. |
