Do you wish you had been raised in church?

I was born and raised in an extremely conservative Christian family. We attended church twice a week, prayed at every meal, read Bible stories and listened to Christian music. If you were not raised in a religion, are you happy you weren’t? Do you think you missed out on something?

No. And I feel bad for you to grow up brainwashed.

No.

Maybe. As an outsider, it’s easy to focus on the positives of a religious upbringing, like the community. But I know plenty of people raised that way who had a negative experience and now have nothing to do with religion.

Absolutely not. Thankful to not have been subjected to all that.

I did have a religious upbringing but would never subject this on my children. The community is toxic and gossipy. And this was a mainstream church (catholic). Very little positives come out of religion

No. I attended church once or twice as a kid and looked into Christianity as a teen, but I am super happy that my parents didn’t impose this nonsense on me.

6 atheists answered the op immediately. Weird how so many atheists hang out here, since their lives are lived without religion, in a forum about religion.

Same. That’s pretty extreme, op. I was raised Catholic but my parents encouraged us to question the Church, its leadership and rules that didn’t align with our personal morals and beliefs. This allowed me to grow up with a belief in God without a one true belief mentality.

Exactly. And many users read exclusively from recent topics so forum is not really relevant. But those facts don’t support whatever nonsense you are trying to imply, now do they?

Yes, I feel I missed out. And 3/4 kids in my family eventually found our way to faith anyway.

And was immediately answered by 6 atheists, who claim to have improved their lives immensely by not being religious, yet are spending their Saturday evening in a religious forum, thinking about religion, discussing religion.
