I’m glad I was raised with religion so I can you make an informed decision to never be a part of that. |
Is your question were you raised in a church or in religion? Two different things. I was raised Jewish, and am happy to have grown up in a Jewish community. More than half the kids in my school were Jewish. Our public schools were closed on Yom Kippur. Did I spend much time at temple? No. Was it enough? For me, yes.
Do I wish I’d been raised like you? Hell no. I got to listen to whatever music I wanted. |
So people not raised in religion are not informed enough to reject or accept religion according to you. |
Some are some are not. Some raised in religion aren’t either. She asked about my personal experience she didn’t ask me to extrapolate that to everybody on the face of the earth. |
“I listened to corporate produced pop music!” |
Do you? |
You don’t think Christian rock is produced and distributed by music companies? Come on. |
You did that on your own. Unless you were raised in every religion, you don’t know how every religion works, according to your logic. So, until you are raised in every religion, you really don’t have enough information to reject or accept each religion. Your logic and words, nobody elses. Since you rejected religion, why are you hanging out on a religious forum? You rejected religion? Why do you not do something non-religious on Saturday evening? |
Nobody is bragging about how they listen to Christian rock as some kind of flex on other people from different backgrounds or religions, unlike the Jewish poster. Weird flex on their part. The Christian music scene is not anywhere near as profitable or lucrative as the multi-billion dollar secular pop music industry. Bragging about consuming corporate profit driven music is sort of ridiculous. |
If only our lives really were lived without religion, but they aren't. others religious beliefs are pushed down our throats al the damn time and used to dictate laws in our country and how we live our lives. |
No, but my 16 year old wishes we were Jewish. |
I was raised in a non-denominational church, and I'm very grateful for it. The community aspect is very nice IMO. I have fond memories of church events and I made a lot of friends through church. I also learned a lot in Sunday school, both about Christianity and other religions. I think the messaging and lessons were positive.
I would not feel the same way if I were raised in a conservative Christian church. I plan to find something more middle ground for my kids though, because the 2024 version of the church I grew up in is a bit too out there for me. |
