Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden had a baby

Guys, giver the girl a break, will ya?! It's non of your business how she got pregnant. Even though she is a celeb, this is their private matter, so back off.

You have no clue what they might have gone through. Just because some of you had a baby young or had one easily, you might not understand what some people have to go through. It can be very depressing, lonely and frustrating.

Signed,
An older Mom who knows. Had babies at 46 on my own. And I do not have the financial means they have, i.e. to hire all the help in the world.

It’s rare but possible. A close friend got pregnant at 46 with no treatments. Two of my friends were late life “oops” babies to mothers pushing fifty.

I'm not citing any scientific data here, but just anecdotal. Cameron Diaz is 1/2 hispanic and in communities of color, I think female fertility is much longer. I am AA and I know plenty of mothers who had kids well into their 40s and the same goes for my Hispanic friends.

Oh please. Reaching for straws, much?

Yeah, Cameron Diaz is a white Hispanic, not a person of color.

That is more common in women who have had prior children.

1.) No infertile people think (myself included) that when celebrities in their late 40s have kids it was natural/is easy. In fact we are keenly aware that having unlimited funds would make things much more possible. It's kind of insulting to say anything less.
2.) The lady who said freezing egg technology has only been around 5 years is very wrong. Cryopreservation has been around since the late 80s and been assessable to rich people since mid 90s. My sister, in Ohio, a teacher married to a fireman, froze her eggs in 2009. Im sure CD had access to this technology whenever she pleased.

You know I’m torn about this. On the one hand I can see if someone in their 20s and 30s who wants to seem cool and free could say they don’t want to have children and then settle down later on and realize they do. They are human after all. And frankly just because someone is a celebrity does not mean they have to tell everyone in the world about the methods they used to get pregnant.

I agree that it’s personal and she does have to disclose, but the the thinking she got pregnant naturally at 47 really messes with women’s heads. Also, there is an article in the Mirror that quotes close associates of hers that imply it was naturally but it’s just vague enough. It’s like her PR machine is on full blast to make us think this just happened to her.

And like a pp, I think it’s weird that she opted to have a kid after decades of swearing she never would and going into great detail as to why parenthood wasn’t something she would ever want. Her kid will see those interviews someday.

I guess Aniston and Chelsea Handler are the only ones staying put in their self-proclaimed anti-parenthood camp. Although now that Chelsea is in therapy, on meds, and “woke,” who knows what she might do?

People are allowed to change their mind. People go through experiences that can really change ones opinions. She also met somebody she probably thought she could have a family with. If her kid sees the interviews one day I think it would have the opposite effect. She could say she wasn’t ready at that time but when she had her kid, she knew that the kid was very wanted and would be cherished.

+ 1 NP I also want to mention that there have been a few vocal men who stated they never, ever want to have kids and then changed their mind!...George Clooney, Jerry Seinfeld and Simon Cowell come to mind. How come no one has taken them to task for changing their minds?

+1. It's because it's socially acceptable for a man to not want kids (or to a lesser degree, to not marry). God forbid a woman not want kids- that's what womanhood is all about

They had a surrogate and it was their own egg and sperm. The surrogate lived with them throughout the pregnancy in seclusion. She was a 23 year old, mom of 1 kid already, vegetarian and she was given 50K. The kid is a US citizen.

Give me a break. Surrogacy costs WAY more than 50k.

And you know this how?

She was great in Annie. I hope she’s not a ms Hannibal in real life!

Right place at the right time. Could that band even make much money? Wasn’t Diaz at one point a $10-15M a movie A lister? Those days are long gone now. But she had a good run.
