Bhahahahahahahahaha |
IF YOU GOT A SPEEDING TICKET AND YOU PAID FOR IT BUT NOW IT WILL BE REFUNDED AND IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN SIX WEEKS. WHEN WILL I RECEIVE IT |
No because they do not have a way to confirm who was driving |
Radar units still need to be calibrated, and tested after so many uses. same with laser. Doesnt matter if it is stationary or moving or focused on a fixed point. Its maintenance that has to be done. I dont know what it is for the cameras but most units police officers use get tested everyday |
mobile radar must be calibrated before and after every shift per most manufacturers ... many cops don't bother which is good grounds for defending a ticket if you think it's wrongly given. I"m sure someone has gotten a copy of the photo radar manual and knows what that calibration standard is. |
First there are only three speed cameras on 295 the others are not speed cameras they are for semis to scan for the bar code things they have on the side of there vehicle. second there is no law or code stating they have to be visable they simply need to have signs stating that the speed limit is enforced by camera. oh and they fixed the flash. the three cameras are just past the weight station behind the barrier on the right, next camera is at arena road behind the pillar for the over pass, third camera which is new is located between the last two over passes before you leave that section of 295 |
They should give notice that the limits are strictly enforced in this area. Not because they have to (they don't) but because it would achieve the presumed goal of having people drive the limit. As it is the system breeds disrespect for the law and all forms of government. Oh and while I'm here I just want to say hi to the NSA. |
re: "...they simply need to have signs stating that the speed limit is enforced by camera..."
So do they have such signs? I came from Baltimore Washington Airport and got wacked on "DC295 SW .7 miles s/o Exit 1 S/B". |
They must be able to prove YOU were driving the vehicle to prove YOU violated the law. If you can't be identified, beyond a reasonable doubt the ticket is just a tax on your vehicle. You are innocent until proven guilty, and you always have the right to face your accuser, In this case an unmanned camera is your accuser so good luck to the state to have the camera testify that it was you behind the wheel at the time of the violation. |
In Falls Church I once received a ticket for going 28 in a 25. There was no leniency and I had to pay an additional 75 in court costs when I contested |
To those who don't speed: You drive at EXACTLY at the speed limit all the times? You don't accidently, momentarily exceed the speed limit by 1 MPH? But why drive the maximum safe speed at all? Be more safe and stay 5-10 MPH below the speed limit at all times. I'm sure you'll not only be safe but feel safe.
Bottom line: If DC really wanted you to slow down they would make the cameras visible. There is no better way to see traffic slow down than for those cameras to be highly visible. If DC wants you to speed through and collect the fine then they'll hide the camera. You figure by now with all the fines DC has collected they could line every school zone and dangerous intersection with a camera to make a safe environment instead of pointing a camera at open highways where there are no intersections, or at least make the threshold 15-20 MPH over the speed limit on highways. |
Ummm...really?
You revived a 5 year old thread that hdlad no comments for 4 yeara just to add that? SMH. |
|
But it was a good point! |
I don't speed above 10 mph. The reason why DC doesn't put a camera in school zones is that sometimes they're 15mph (when kids are present) and sometimes it's 25 mph. Personally I would litter DC with even more of these cameras. The utter disregard for safety that I see from drivers is appalling. |
