I'm looking for an all-electric vehicle that is at least as big as a full-size sedan or small SUV. Mid-range price- not luxury and not low-end. There don't seem to be a lot of options that fit the bill. Maybe an Ioniq 6, though that is hard to find.
Any suggestions? |
We have a Chevy bolt EUV and are very happy with it. |
Ioniq 5 / Kia EV6? Both are built on the same platform as the Ioniq 6 and have more passenger and cargo space than the Ioniq 6 given their SUV layout. Inventories of the Ioniq 5 look healthy. |
OP, we did this search as well.
Wound up with a Tesla Y. So have no advice for you. |
Mach E or ID4 ? |
+1 |
OP here. Thanks for this. I really don't like the exterior design/look of the Ioniq 5, but may need to give it a shot... |
Nissan Aryia. I test drove practically every EV in this size.
As others have stated, the primary options are: Audi Q4, Cadillac Lyriq, Chevy Bolt, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Genesis GV60, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Tesla X and Y, Toyota bz4x, Volkswagen ID4, and Volvo XC40 Recharge or XC30. This list is not inclusive of every option. The only other one I liked was the XC40, but I did not like the minimalist interior. I hated the Ioniz, Kia, VW, and Toyota. Tesla was also a no-go for me as there are too many features (or lack thereof) that I don't like. |
I love my Audi Q4. I little higher end, but isn’t that much more expensive than the Ioniq 6 and on par with the Volvo. |
Dollar for dollar, you can't beat a Model Y. Not even close.
Why are you looking for a non-Tesla? |
I love my Nissan Ariya. Small SUV/crossover, good range. Have had it a year now and no complaints.

Do you want an SUV or a car? |
I have the Mach-E and love it. I think it is marketed as a small SUV, but it's really like a sedan. It was $60,000 though - which seems a little more than "mid-range." |
I agree. Its not as well known as some of the others, but its a gem. Also, if you're making the transition from an ICE to EV, its a more familiar driving experience than the other EV options. |
OP here. It may be weird, but I don't care. We already have an old minivan, so I'm set for big hauls. I just need something big enough to fit the family of four in for shorter trips if I need to, but that will also work as a commuter car. |
