Do they transfer everything when you get a new phone?

Anonymous
We are all going to Verizon today for new phones. It’s been a while since we’ve gotten them and I can’t remember if everything transfers (apps, photos, etc.) to the new phones (iPhones). Do we need to backup photos or anything?

If you have an Apple cloud account you can backup and then restore to the new phone. I don't know if Verizon does that for you.

You can also use a laptop to do it, but that's rather tedious.

They don't transfer... you do. Yes you need a backup. That is what gets transfered. It takes hours.

I just upgraded to the newest iPhone and it’s all backed up on my iCloud account, which is tied to your AppleID. Verizon does nothing. I had mine shipped so I didn’t need to go to the store and wait in the iLine, which iHate.

Old news. I got a new iPhone last month and it took about five minutes to transfer everything. It transferred my passwords as well.

many of us stopped using iPhones and Apple products when it became clear that Apple had no interest in helping maintain national security. I’m a patriot. I will not support companies who aren’t good corporate citizens. As far as I’m concerned, Apple is essentially one step above Chinese spyware. Apple products are for trumpers - not real Americans.

The iPhone is spyware because it doesn't provide a backdoor to US law enforcement? I am struggling with your logic.

I got a new iPhone at the Apple Store last year. They did the transferring for me. It took about 15 minutes. I had everything backed up in the cloud beforehand.

Well, I did it myself because I am not a Luddite. They probably were working on something else and didn’t get back to you right away.

I am in liberal North Arlington and literally don't know a single person with an Android. I'd know b /c they F up group chats. I know ONE person with an Android in my family and they're a huge republican.

I purchased my most recent phone (Android) at Best Buy and they transferred everything for me. Next question: Why does it take SO long to buy a phone? To the OP taking the family, bring snacks.

Remember to back up your MFA stuff--I got a new phone recently and had 10 Microsoft Authenticator accounts. They all backed up and were recoverable and came out of the gate working except one, which took ages getting to the right company IT people to reset and re-add. Those do not transfer to a new phone.

Otherwise, unless you saved recovery codes (nobody does, I've worked on the other end of this) you have to call IT desks to have the MFA reset so you can re-register the phone.
