WWYD Bed Bath Beyond shipped double order

What would you do?

I ordered two twin comforters. I received four. I checked my order, and I confirmed that I only ordered two. It's such a hassle to contact companies nowadays so I'm tempted to just donate the two extra but my internal compass is telling me to contact them to let them know. I'm also afraid they will direct me to return them which is a hassle. Ugh.

For sure contact them. It is extremely likely they will tell you to keep them.

I likely will contact them because I would feel like I was betraying myself if I did not. Because, as I said, my internal compass is telling me I need to contact him. I just really hope you are correct and they don't ask me to ship them back.

This has happened to me before and I did a search on it. The FTC calls it "a gift". So if you want to accept the gift, keep it and have four. If you want to accept the gift and no longer need the ones you ordered, return them for a refund and keep the gifted two.

This happened to me before. Just keep it. Also saw the FTC rules on gifting. I don’t have time to make calls like this. They’re also a big company and not a mom and pop shop so don’t feel too bad about it. Your two comforters aren’t going to make a difference to their bottom line.

This is the original poster. Thank you. I never heard of that FTC rule, calling it a gift!

This happened to me a couple months ago and I ended up contacting them. They said I can return the extra one just by going to UPS and shipping it and when I said I’m not doing that, they said they’ll schedule a pickup at my house. No one ever came.

We ordered 4 dining chairs from Pottery Barn with delivery & assembly.

Guys brought it all in and assembled 6 chairs. We checked our order; paid for 4 chairs.

Their paperwork said deliver 6 chairs.

We put 2 to the side for a few months to see if they would ever reach out, but they never did.

The 2 extra chairs do come in handy sometimes

LL Bean once sent up two backpacks instead of one. We held on to it in the packaging for a while. If they had reached out I would have returned it. Never heard anything so we used it eventually

Who cares? Aren't they bankrupt anyway? You are lucky you got your order TBH.

Overstock bought the name. So BB&B us back as an online retailer.

Sounds like it was a lesser hassle if you did not contact them.

Plus I am quite sure large corporations like this have plenty of insurance (plus stock!) when stuff like this happens. 😃

I ordered a 9ft x 12 ft rug from Home Depot once. It was delivered to my house. I didn't like it. It BARELY fit into my Honda CRV b/c it is so long. I had my DH help me get it into the car and then into the store. I returned it and was credited the $$.

A few days later, Home Depot REDELIVERED THE SAME RUG to my house. This was the exact same item that I had dragged back to the store to return. Some not-so-smart person at Home Depot saw my name on the shipping tag attached to the rug, and had it delivered to me when it should have been returned to the manufacturer from Home Depot.

It was such a beast to return, that I gave up on trying to return it. I just kept it and put it in our basement. I still don't like it that much, but I'm not going through the effort to return it AGAIN.
