… you should be! I can’t get over how delicious home made pizza is, and how easy it is. Dough is so easy to make, especially if you have a stand mixer, but only marginally harder if you don’t. You can make a lot at once and freeze it. So easy to customize it based on your preferences.
And then making the pizza is so easy. Tip #1: parchment paper. Tip #2: 500 degree oven. That’s all I have to say. |
Good. |
I don’t like cooking. If we’re having pizza it’s because it’s a convenient takeout food. I’m glad you enjoy making your own though. |
And then you chop peppers and onions, slice olives, shred cheese, whip up a fresh tomato sauce, shape the dough, spread the sauce, sprinkle the cheese, add the toppings....
OR, you make a phone call. Sometimes I'm up for Option A. Most of the time, pizza means not doing work. |
Nope, pizza is meant for ordering. |
My husband buys the dough at Whole Foods, and then does the rest. It allows each member of the family to get a customized slice. I like how he can make the dough thinner than ready-made pizza.
However it's a lot of work. If I lived in France, my home country, I would never make pizza at home, but would just go to a restaurant and have delicious ultra-thin pizza with interesting toppings you don't seem to have here... |

DH likes making his own pizza dough, but many bakeries and even some delis sell pizza dough to take home! So easy! I love making pizza at home. |
Nah it’s blah and yes I have had made from scratch dough and the best fresh purchased dough and it just doesn’t taste anywhere close to restaurant pizza |
I really like homemade pizza and after making it for over 15 years, we have a lot of equipment and have gotten pretty good at it.
That said, I find it different than restaurant pizza, and I view them as two different meals. In the way that shrimp wraps, cold sesame noodle salad, and smashed cucumber side dish are asian foods I can make at home, but they don't get me all the way to satisfying my takeout cravings for similar flavors. |
What interesting toppings would you have in France? |
Things that are hard to get as a combination here. For example, Provençal: tomatoes, tuna, olives, red onion. I love artichoke in my homemade pizza. Generally way less cheese and oil than pizzas here. Or the flammkuchen/tarte flambée, a pizza from Alsace without tomato sauce or cheese, but creme fraiche, thinly sliced onions and lardons (similar to bacon). Italian seafood pizza, although I suppose you can find it here too, but it's less popular. |
Love that for you. Your experience isn’t universal and not everyone wants the same. Having said that, kudos to you! |
NP. If only we had tuna on pizza. Then it would be so good. |
