Arden or Mae ?

Trying to add a few names to our list but girl names are increasing harder and harder. Thoughts on Arden? Or Mae although her last name is 6 letters and starts with MA too.

Help.. clueless

Mae Marken

Mae Maston

Both are too much, so go with Arden.

Arden sounds masculine to me, or gender neutral at best. I prefer Mae for a girl.

Mae will be continually misspelled.

Both are trying too hard. Arden will be teased and called Elizabeth Arden (my dd has a teammate named Arden who is teased). Mae will be misspelled and just sounds like a nn

These are both bad. Arden sounds like you're trying to seem intellectual but missing the mark, and Mae Ma---- is cartoonish.

Arden would be even worse in either of those cases! Arden Marken? Arden Maston???

I like Mae but wouldn’t do it w a last name that starts Ma. Arden is terrible.

Suggestions:

Violet
Alice
Esther
June
Frances
Ivy

They’re both lovely! Yes, if you go with Mae she’ll be saying “Mae with an E, M-A-E”. But that’s not the worst fate in the world, by a long shot. And since when does school kids know who Elizabeth Arden is?!? Unless she is mainly hanging out with grandmas, she’ll be fine.

I think it depends on the sounds of the last name. In general, I'd assume Arden was a boy.

My DD has a name like you describe, she is Rosie Ro--- but it flows well when people say it.

Love Arden. Mae is cute for a little girl, not the best for a grown woman.

Noone in this child's generation will be aware of Elizabeth Arden!

Arden is a great name but I’d use it for a boy. Avery is also traditionally a boys name but more used for girls now.

May or masie

I dislike both for different reasons. Arden strikes me as faux pretentious and Mae strikes me as kind of country... I guess I'd go with Mae if I had to choose?
