I'm having my first and I need mom friends!

I'm pregnant with my first and just moved here from Seattle - how do I meet pregnant moms in person? Is that a thing? PLEASE recommend! I'm social and I miss my friends so much.

I met some nice moms doing Stroller Stride workouts. When mine were little I would even chat up random moms at the park and did make one friend that way (although she moved away not long after). And eventually you can meet other moms through your kid’s preschool/elementary school sports teams, but that is a ways off. Before then you can sign up for mommy and me type activities (like a Little Gym or county rec center class) to get out and meet other parents.

Congrats on your move and baby on the way OP!

Sorry that was school to be through preschool/elementary school *and* sports teams.

I'm in Crystal City. Looking up PACE - is it classes? Another forum just recommended Mamistad...

It’s been YEARS but after I had my first I met a nice group of new moms through an Arlington County parks and rec post-partum Pilates class where you brought baby along. We ended up continuing to get together after the class ended. So see if they’re still offering anything similar.

+ Pace. It's explicitly intended to be social as well as support, so it's not awkward to try to make friends. It's part of the reason everyone is there and a priority for the facilitators.

Yes it's costs $ bc it's run by licensed therapists / social workers. Their time is not free.

Going to a new member meeting with mammistad saturday - I'll report back. They have moms in my area and I'm already paying a therapist so hopefully it works out!
I'll probably try pace later too so thanks everyone for your support! Everyone is so nice!

One of my greatest regrets about my maternity leave was that I didn’t join PACE.
