Loudoun High School Lacrosse

Per the request of the "old guard" posters here, I thought about starting a Loudoun lacrosse post. Indy lax can post away here but would welcome input from Riverside, Freedom, Stonebridge. Who will be the team on the rise this season? Who takes a step back?

I have seen Indy play once this year, and I was surprised how weak they are for all the chirping that their coaches and parents do on this board.

Indy is a young team, but in the past few seasons I think Riverside and before that Briar Woods have been the best teams in the state. To put this into perspective for the 6A crowd, all the kids at Indy at one time were slated for Briar Woods. If they had kept all the talent it would not be close at this point on who the top team in the state is.

Huh? Watch Indy play and then report back on what you think. I won’t call out individual kids, but at certain positions they are very green, it almost looks like JV players.

On the girls side you can drop names in a hat and pick a winner. The county has been leaking talent the past two years. Not sure if kids just aren’t playing anymore or if soccer has hurt numbers given the two are Spring sports. Woodgrove has the top player, but not much of a supporting cast. Dominion will be way down, but all teams are much weaker this year, so they will still win their district.

Point is one of the challenges are all of the new HS opening every year. Five seasons ago Briar Woods was the best team in the state at any level. Indy opened and splits the talent in half. If you pulled half the talent away from any 6A school in Fairfax that school would be way down.

Agree. It’s demolished hs sports with each new opening. Lightridge took Champe, PVI pulls from each of the local hs’s making it a very big deficit of top players. With the new hs opening near Indy, that will take from there and maybe lightridge.

Until the area can get caught up in families, it’s going to be a continuous lack in depth on all teams. And that might be years away.
