I believe last year admissions decisions started 3/6. Anyone hear whether they start this week or next? |
suspense is killing you, huh? It must feel like waiting for a slow-motion roller coaster to inch its way to the top. Then, it's either a thrilling - congratulations, get ready to go to the moon!, or a disappointing - Thanks for applying, but you're on the waitlist, steep drop ... |
A lot of waitlist seats will open up as over 100 students will accept spots to TJ. However, if your school is above its quota, probably Stone Hill, Eagle Ridge, Brambleton, maybe Willard, then to get in someone from the same school would have to decline a spot.
Also, recently many students getting in to TJ have not been accepted to Academies so not as many seats will open up. |
also, recently many who have received offers from TJ have declined and chosen to stay at their base school or opt for the more convenient AoS/AET option if it was offered to them |
On a 1 to 10 difficulty scale with TJ as 10, what does AoS/AET rate as? Difficulty meaning course rigor, student workload, earning grades, etc |
i see this on the AOL website -->
"March 2024 - Admissions offers will be posted in the admissions portal " Do they send us emails also ? |
Yes. Anyday now, look forward to a 6pm email. |
I'd say 6 or 7, but I'd need to know what is a 5 on this scale. The math is pretty easy and somewhat a repeat of what kids have already taken, because all students take the same math class. |
5 would be base school with three medium effort APs |
DS received an email informing that results will be out on March 15th after 4 pm. |
Starting 3:59pm, looking forward to hitting the email refresh button or repeatedly swiping finger on the phone to load new messages, eyes wide with anticipation, also monitoring text messages if others have good news to share, resetting a lowered expectation for entire family that rejection is not the end of the world, tension so thick it could be cut with a knife..... next Friday evening is going to be one nerve-wracking frenzy! |
Does your child want to open it by themself or with the family? |
I opened my email for something else, and found the AOS acceptance email.
I wasn't expecting the email that day, and didnt pin hopes on acceptance . So it was a surprise. To few pp: Yes they send emails as well. Getting in is one thing, course rigor is hard, and no, AOS Maths is not easy. |
My daughter was actually selected to participate in the brand new HAMsci Program at Tuscarora high school. 1 of 75 students, chosen on a completely lottery based system, no tests or other factors. She was waitlisted for the Pre-IB program though. She probably will not be attending either because if she is not accepted to either TJ/AOS/AET she would be most happy/thriving at her base school and participating in the activities there surrounded by her friends. |
My DW chose chicken pot pie with garden salad for dinner, although this selection was completely out of the blue. Still wondering if it would've been better with steamed vegetables. If no offers from TJ or AOS/AET, might be happy with just a good old steak with baked potato. |
