My k-8 bombed

Anonymous
I’ve seen the posts about. Should I go through a K8 or go to a K12… If you have a K12 option, do it you could always switch out. Our k8 had a terrible outcome this year.

Ours didn’t. They say they have a 100% rate of getting kids into their top choice- and from what I hear, they have done just that.

That’s what people said last year. Seems to be a trend

What was their outcomes if you think they bombed?

So the strategy is to convince families their first choice is somewhere unusual they can in?

You mean your child bombed or someone you know's child bombed. Doesn't mean the whole 8th grade class did. Way too soon for you to know where everyone did and did not get in and make that statement.

Define "terrible outcome"

What do you consider terrible outcomes?

At our K-8, got 2 into Maret, I believe 4 into Sidwell, 2 into a Cathedral school, 1 into Holton (which is far), and then a bunch into Burke, Field, and SSSA. Several others are headed to public or Catholic and one to boarding. Once again zero admits to GDS despite the majority of the class applying. Overall, OK, but not great (BTW, some overlap in stats above, but surprisingly less than you'd think).

Which one?

Can you share the schools? And agree with others, what defines a bad outcome?

Can you point to any reasons? New admin this year? Didn’t realistically convey chances? I have a 7th grader. Grateful for any insights or advice.

How did Norwood, St Pats, Sheridan and Lowell do?

How did Green Hedges in Vienna do?

This is fairly typical IMO. The reality is most k-8 grads don’t get into their true #1, though in time they end up happy enough.
